My 18 month old DD went peepee in the potty today for the first time!
I bought a potty a while back just to have it around for her to see and explore while I was going potty, and shortly after I bought it, she was being watched by a friend of mine who has a 2 year old and she watched her DD got potty. Ever since she has wanted to sit on the potty, clothed or not, it was fine with her. She would even ask for paper to wipe..so funny watching her wipe her clothes...but very recently, she started wanting to sit on the potty without clothes or her diaper. She has never sat for any amt of time, and had never gone, but she enjoyed it. She also started grabbing herself and saying peepee, almost like she was telling me she was going. I have put her on the potty when she says that, but she never went. Well, tonight she did that, saying peepee, and I was a bit slow, but decided to give her a bath, so I stripped her down, and put her on the potty. She sat on there longer than ever before, and kept saying "potty!" Well, when she stood up, she had gone peepee!!! I was so excited! I hugged her and was telling her that she did it, and just praised her for it. You could see the joy in her eyes at doing something so amazing! I felt so blessed to be able to watch her first real "proud" moment as a person. My heart melts to think about it. It was just so cool!

I am a bit reluctant to really start potty training her right now because Noah is due in less than 2 months, and life will be crazy either way if he lives or not...and I know that times like those are not ideal for training....any advice? I will keep bringing her to the potty at home as much as she asks...but I am not sure about public places...and she hasn't really asked when we are out yet...

How can my baby be growing up so fast? It amazes me!!

Hooray! :D

I think you're on the right track- I would continue to just take her when she asks, and keep encouraging her. This seems like a rough time of life for you to start the WHOLE potty-training deal.

That is very exciting! I'd say let her take the lead and you'll know if she is ready. It is great she is so interested and went on the potty! Way to go!

Happy day!!! Congratulations!!!! I liked the idea about just encouraging her when she wants to go, not pushing it, especially with everything you've got going on!
