I guess my question is more about toilet paper training  Payton has been doing so great with potty training, once he decided it was time it was really easy. He's very meticulous about going, wiping up after himself when he pees, etc. He likes to keep things clean. I haven't yet let him wipe himself after he has a bm. I don't know if he's there yet as far as motor skills anyways but it's more because I fear the mess. So, how did you go about this? When did you let your kiddo start wiping themselves? Thoughts?
TIA

ummmm, he wipes when he pees?! too funny!
I was 'worried' when dd started pooping in the toilet...she is a VERY "do it myself" girl. I was surprised to see that the way her body/bottom was situated, there wasn't much to wipe off! So, I got her in the habit of doing it (front to back for a girl) but there isn't really any issue for us of whether it all gets off. There's rarely any to get off in the first place!

We tried several times before I was happy to let Ds complete the job on his own. :-D It was to messy for us. He was close to six before I completely left him on his own and Dd was four. I think it depends on their personality. :-D I still have to remind him to flush and wash his hands half the time. [whatwacko] He is always to busy thinking about something... :-D

I should clarify, he wipes the SEAT off after he pees haha! He doesn't actually wipe himself. ;)
I wish we were in the 'not having much there' boat but there is definitely an amount that needs to be taken care of! [whatwacko] haha
Plaid, I think you are totally right about the personality thing! I might just try it and see how he does and go from there. Sometimes I'm more worried about the little things then I should be.

I never did wipe my boys... that was their job from the beginning! I guess for us it was just part of the potty training process :)

I'll wipe DS for as long as I have to so he doesn't get poop on his unders nor on his hands during the wipe. Plus he takes WAY too much toilet paper off the roll. He's been potty trained since 2 1/2, so we are going on a year of taking care of it for him. Hopefully, he'll be good to go in a*couple*of*years! Ugh! [whatwacko]
Plus I'm so anal (no pun intended) about my toilet being clean... I probably clean it at least 5 times a day! I guess it's "my" personality that will determine when he's ready to go solo! LOL
