Okay, so I posted last week begging for help to ease gassy/colicy infants....so I read the Happiest Baby On The Block book this weekend and had to share this tip! It has saved our life!! I was doing everything else is suggested...side/tummy positions, binkie, movement like swaying and dancing and walking, warm compresses, mylicon, elevation, singing/white noise....you name it...we've done it...A LOT!! So, needless to say that trying this last suggestion that they said was the magic off switch for kids made me MORE than skeptical....but thank the Lord! it worked!!
Okay, have to share this tip for anyone who has or will in the future have a colicy/fussy/won't sleep at night newborn! Owen is the most laid back happy baby...until evening rolls around...and then, colicy all night long.....read this book that said to swaddle them just like they do at the hospital when they're first born and to put a hat on them to keep their head warm and it will work miracles....so, of course I was thinkin' WHATEVER! Pacing/swinging/rocking/singing...nothin g helps (I mean Jared and I were logging more miles pacing our bedroom at night then in our entire life!), wrapping the kid a little tighter in his blankie and putting a hat on is NOT going to do the trick....Man was I WRONG!! For the past 4 nights we have swaddled him and put a hat on him in the evenings (and I do it at naptime too now and get longer naps from him!) and he hasn't been fussy at all and has only woken once to eat at night! This was coming from him eating every two hours all night and being fussy and screaming from like 8pm to 3am every night! What a difference! May not work for every kid, but it sure worked for us! Worth putting out the tip we got that is saving us in case it can help any of you guys too!
