Has anyone ever heard of this and/or used this method to tan when pregnant?

Not gone into details myself, but a friend of mine used to do this and her OB said best not to since they don't have research on whether the chemicals could be harmful....

:P I have done it, but I wasn't pregnant. Sorry, I can't be of more help on that issue.

Thanks Bree! I was doing some reading online about it and I think I'll pass. My friend suggested it because I have a wedding to go to in a few weeks (a formal one) and I'm not feeling very comfortable in the dress that I have to wear. But then again I am 8 months pregnant!! I am self-conscious and am more "pale" than I've ever been. I tan easily and usually keep my tan well, but after having a baby last year and not getting much sun for the past 2 summers, I've lost most of it. I have never done the airbrush or sunless tanning lotion before, and I've never made it a habit to use a tanning bed - just ocassionally before prom and a few weddings. My skin is prone to break-out - face, neck and back - and that always helped dry it up. It helped me look and feel better about myself I guess. That's why my friend suggested that I might try the airbrush thing.

I love to tan when not preggo too...I was pregnant last spring and summer and I got SO pale! LOL....plus, being outside all day with a two year old little boy who loves the water....I was tan on my front side from sitting with him next to the pool, but due to the belly bump, couldn't lay on my stomach to tan my backside at all....talk about weird looking! my front was 5 shades darker than the back of me! LOL

I would guess it wouldn't be a good idea. You're not supposed to get a perm or dye your hair, so I wouldn't thin that tanning would be too good either. :)

With my 1st pregnancy, I didn't realize I was pregnant for almost 3 1/2 months (unusual cycles for a year before and no obvious signs until then). During that time which was early spring, I tanned in the tanning beds! You can't imagine how worried I was that something would be wrong with my son when he was born because of that.

Thankfully, he was fine and God had protected him. BUT - I think that this go round I will avoid all tanning beds and products to be on the safe side. I know for a fact that I am very blessed that nothing happened during that first trimester when I subjected him to excess heat. And now, as I look at my pale, pale, pale skin, I wish too that I knew those tanning products are safe. If any of you can find facts on it that prove it is ok, then send them my way too. Until then, I am going to be pale girl and just feel blessed to have a healthy baby boy growing in me. :)
