View Full Version : Weird... No Signs Of Ovulation...
I'm on day 14 of my cycle and I haven't had a single sign of ovulation. *Nothing*. Totally weird. Wyatt has been weaned now for a couple of months and I am 99.9% sure I ovulated last month, my cervix did it's thing (LSO) and I had a nice definite patch of fertile CM. This month? Nothing... my cervix is being nuetral... and I haven't had hardly *any* CM at all, which in itself is weird for me because I typically have enough all the time that it's sometimes difficult to tell when Fertile EWCM is present, ya know? Anyways... Have any of you had an anovulatory cycle out of the blue like this? As I've said before, we're not TTC, but we're not TTA either... just winging it... this is just curiosity sake for me. I haven't been temping, so I don't have a chart to speak of.
BlessedMommy 03-05-2011, 09:10 PM My cycles have been all over the place since my period returned after having Micah.
I haven't had any annovulatory cycles, but there have been lots of cycles where ovulation has been very delayed. It's made for an interesting time TTA, but has still been doable.
It can still take awhile to regulate after weaning, so my vote is that the eggie is hiding out for awhile and will probably appear later.
melinda 03-05-2011, 11:58 PM hmm maybe going to be a long cycle? maybe going to ovulate later than normal? .....could you be pregnant :)
No, I'm definitely not pregnant; I just had my period. I definitely think I'm either just having a later ovulation or anovulAtory cycle. :) Today is day 15 and I had sOme minor ewcm last night but nothing that screamed ovulation. Hhhhmmm... Interesting stuff. Amazing how our bodies "wig out" after pregnancy and bfing! :)
His butterfly 03-08-2011, 11:31 AM I was going to ask something similar. AF returned end of January and now I am on day 36 or 37 and still no signs. I thought that I O but no signs of AF. Hubs had a vas so pretty sure not pregnant. I was actually wondering if it's possible to get a period and then ammenorhia (sp) from an increase in nursing??? Not temping so that doesn't help although not sure it would help since I'm up frequently at night.
BlessedMommy 03-08-2011, 12:03 PM Sounds like typical breastfeeding wackiness, Sarah.
If you saw CM that doesn't necessarily indicate ovulation.
The best and most accurate way to confirm or deny ovulation is by taking temps.
Do you have a chart?

Nope no chart. I've just been checking CM. And my sleep cycle is so wacky I don't even know if temping would help.
BlessedMommy 03-08-2011, 04:18 PM You can have multiple patches of CM before you ovulate. Things should probably settle down after a few cycles. When cycles return when baby is only a few months old, they are often more irregular than for those moms who have a later return of fertility.
And some later ones still have a lot of weirdness! I didn't get my first PPAF after Micah was 14 months and my cycles are still irregular. Good thing that FAM doesn't rely on cycle regularity or we would be in trouble.

with ds3 I had my first af at 6mos and then I didnt have another one until he was almost 9mos and then when he was 1yrs old is when I had my 3rd and then it was regular every 30days after that, so I wonder if maybe he picked up on his nursing and it delayed ovulation for a couple of months
Well I'm prettttttyy sure yesterday was O day for me-- I think. But without temping it's hard to be sure. If we wind up not being pg this month I'm definitely going to buy myself a bbt and start temping. I'd really love to know if I'm even ovulating at this point, ya know? Anywho... So two weeks and I'll know if I can go ahead and buy that bbt.
Just going to jump in here to say... temping while bf'ing is weird. FF has changed my ovulation day 3 times now. I have no idea what to believe. [whatwacko]
BlessedMommy 03-09-2011, 09:34 PM Do you have a chart that I can look at, Kim?
That is where using all three signs in collaboration really comes in handy. I know what my typical mucus patch looks like when I ovulate and how soft and open my cervix is. I know when my body is "faking" a mucus patch, by the quantities of mucus.
Oh, and also your temperature rise can be further confused if you have a temp that is out of line in your pre-shift six. If a temp is clearly out of the range of your other temps it is considered disturbed. Then to compensate for the missing temp you add one extra day of temperature shift to be considered infertile.
Here it is:
My Ovulation Chart (http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/1d4d58)
I got lazy charting my cm after the first mucus patch, but I think I'm pretty confident that my O day was cd24. I don't think it will switch again. (FF had it first at cd16, then cd20.) Is there a typical # of days after ovulation that you are considered infertile? (You said add one extra day, but I'm not sure what I'm adding to. lol)
Last month and this month my cycles have been super long... I sure hope they shorten up to more 'normal' lengths soon (around 32 days for me) because with the long cycles, it is really hard to know when you are really ovulating. Dh and I are finding it frustrating! [whatwacko]
Sorry to hijack, Jen!
BlessedMommy 03-11-2011, 09:27 AM I don't see your current chart. Maybe try again to find the link?
If you haven't yet had the opportunity to learn the basics of FAM rules to TTA, I would recommend checking with a teacher and taking a class, either long distance or in person. You can even take online classes pretty cheaply at christianfamilyplanning.net.
Here is the CCL rule for post-ovulation infertility:
Sympto-thermal Rule
Phase III begins on the evening of:
1. The 3rd day of drying up after Peak Day, combined with
2. 3 normal post-peak temperatures in a rising pattern above the LTL
AND
The 3rd temperature at or above the HTL
OR
The cervix closed and hard for three days.
If the above conditions are not met, then Phase III begins after waiting an additional post-peak day for another temperature above the LTL.
Odd that the link didn't work for you, it does for me. Oh well. My temp dropped again this morning after 6 days up. Weird, weird, weird. [whatwacko]
BlessedMommy 03-11-2011, 12:15 PM Okay, Kim I can see your chart now. I guess that I didn't wait long enough for it to load.
My guess is that you have some out of line temps somewhere. Like one in the pre-shift six.
