Not sure where to post this...

Sawyer is just over 10 months and I weaned him over the past week or two. In the last couple of days I've had a lot of cramping so I figured a period was coming. So far no bleeding but a TON of nausea and some dizziness, feeling faint, etc and cramping off and on. All are very typical pregnancy symptoms for me but it's next to impossible that I would be pregnant.

So just to check, since my body is trying to quit producing milk AND have a period, would that create the same hormonal reactions???

Anyone???

And to add to the question - has anyone here gotten pregnant before resuming their monthly cycle after baby? We've used barrier methods every time...

I did. That's how we got Fiona. She and Liam are 16mths apart.

Unfortunately barrier methods aren't 100% effective, and since you would ovulate before a period, then you could get pregnant before your first AF after birth. Also, BF made no difference for me with my cycles, I've always ovulated within 7 weeks of giving birth.
But like everyone always says to me (and it's true), the only way you can tell is by doing a preg test, or wait and see what happens. Sorry not much help.
Don't know about other women, but BF and weaning has never effected my cycles in any way - plus when I stopped BF it took me almost 3 years before I stopped producing milk![whatwacko]

Ok, you guys are scaring me now!! :D Just kidding, I'd love another baby already...

But, I'm thinking a HPT wouldn't show anything yet... probably a waste to take it so soon but now I'm curious! With Sawyer I had preg symptoms within a week of conception and it felt just like this. I'm on day 3 of 24/7 nausea... sigh...

Hey Margi! This sure is exciting! :D How are you feeling today?? I just thought I'd throw this out there... maybe you can determine if it isn't a possibility... I was sick last week with a weird variation of the flu - constant nausea with no throwing up. [whatwacko] It lasted several days. You're close enough to me that it could be a similar bug going around there. (Although I'd much prefer it if you were preggers than sick!)

Well I took the plunge and POAS... no surprise, a BFN... so obviously this whole mess is weaning-related. Sure hope it gets figured out soon!!

:( Sorry gals! We're definitely not actively TTC but neither dh or I would be in the least tiniest bit upset if we ended up pg:) So its still just a little sad everytime I see af show up.

Margi, have you kept track of your fertility signs? Ovulation before PPAF is definitely possible, in fact each time I resumed AF after baby, I ovulated first! (as evidenced by a mucus patch, dry up, and obvious temp shift)

Have you noticed ewcm recently?

That's kinda how we are too, Anna!

I've never done anything to track fertility. I don't have a clue about that stuff!! And I'm not sure about the ewcm because I have slight discharge all the time and I'm not sure I would notice??
