Cord Stump

I was shocked this morning when I changed Gabriella's diaper I noticed that her cord stump has already fallen off. She's barley 4 days old... I know they say something like 7-12 days is the norm. Everything looks great though.. there is no bleeding or redness.. it looks exactly how it should. Lawson lost his at 7 days and Brooke lost hers later.. I cant remember exactly.
Has anyone else's babies lost their's so early.. should it be cause for alarm?

My son lost his within the few days. I remember being surprised (but glad because it is gross looking). There was a little piece remaining that fell off around 7 days. His healed fine...no problems:)

So out of curiosity.. did you two use alcohol or anything to clean it? Or did you use the leave it alone method? And did you sponge bath or submurge? I have always been told by my midwife to just leave it be, so thats what I've done.

we left it alone...we didn't do sponge baths, but we tried to keep it dry as we could...so after bath, we would leave her topless (it was summertime though)

i used alcohol swabs until the first piece fell off. because it was so early, i only had to wipe it once. i left the little piece alone but i did only do sponge baths until it was completely gone.

Our kids' have all fallen off at right around 4 days. Using alcohol every once in a while. With my eldest 'alcohol at every diaper change' was still being taught. But I didn't follow too closely, as I'm lazy and forgetful hehe With the other kids I used alcohol at maybe every 6 diaper changes? :roll:
