 OH my, my 8 week old little boy has been through it....due to a protein allergy to milk and soy based formulas that make him bleed, he's now on mandatory Nutramigen formula.....but he has TERRIBLE gas!! Tried every anti-gas bottle out there and it doesn't seem to make a differnece...use Mylicon drops....anyone have any experience with this and any ideas to calm him?? We pace/rub/baby massage/warm bath and warm lotion....nothing seems to calm him or his tummy! ANY advice would be welcomed!

Don't have much in the way of advice, but I am praying for him [pray]

My ds had really bad gas too. We used Mylicon drops constantly and also would lay him across my lap with his tummy on my legs. That would help him relieve himself too. His gas finally passed when he was about 6 or 7 months old but until them he was very fussy. Best of luck!

Have you tried putting a blanket or towel in the dryer and wrapping him up in it?

Yep, tried the warm swaddling too....we lay him on his tummy over a firm cushion and rub him and move/push his little legs against his tummy too....oy....he just screams for hours....
asked the doctor about zantac and reflux and he said since he doesn't spit up everytime that it's only gas, even though his is fitful through his feedings a lot. We have to keep him elevated at all times feeding and not feeding......
Usually does fine during the day...but by late evening and all through the night....it's disasterous!

My dd was also very gassy and constipated some too. We tried everything – gas drops, different positions, changing my diet (I breastfed), etc. – until finally my ped. suggested trying pear juice (watered down half and half). This didn’t replace any feedings, just supplemented them and it REALLY helped. Also, we used the Dr. Brown’s bottles which also seemed to help a great deal (more so than Avent which is what I started out with). I’ll be praying for you both, I remember those LONG nights :? and was willing to try anything.

Has anyone heard of or tried using GRIPE water with an infant for gas??

Yes!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Gripe Water! It is amazing stuff. I am big on all natural things...so I love that it isn't really like "medicating" him. You can find it online or if you have a Medicine Shoppe around they carry it. I use the Baby Bliss brand. Just watch and make sure you don't get the one with alcohol!
