I mentioned in my journal that I had what I thought to be Braxton Hicks contractions early this morning that were quite painful... on a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being as painful as labour) I would give them a 3 I guess. I had a heat pack on my tummy which didn't really help. They were coming and going every 3 or so minutes I think. I had lower backache and sharp pains and basically my whole front and back was hurting. I didn't have a fever or bleeding though.
I've been told I should phone my midwife (from some friends) because it could be early contractions and they can give me medication to stop labour and if need be steroids if I'm still going to deliver early.
I just thought since I wasn't in pain anymore and baby is still moving in there that I was ok.
Paul finishes work in less than an hour so we could go to the hospital or 24 hour doctors after he gets home. Or should I just phone right now and ask her what she thinks? I don't want to cause a fuss but I will go now if I have to...

I would call just to be safe. If she thinks you are fine then I wouldn't worry. But if she thinks you need to be examined then go. After 4 you would think I could figure it out but none of mine were ever the same and I didn't go into hard labor until just before I delivered so I always called or went in. Good luck!!

I think you are probably just having braxton hicks, but better safe than sorry. It can't hurt to call.

If you have any concerns you should call your midwife. If you think it's serious then you should go to the hospital. I hope all goes well!

I agree, you should call just to be on the safe side and to put your mind at ease.
Call her - they won't think you are being hypo or anything, that is what the midwives are there for! They want the best outcomes for you and your baby, so I say never be afraid to ask anything or make a visit if you are concerned. Every pregnancy is different so it can be hard to judge.

i had tons of braxton hicks with my 3 pregnancies. first always down a big glass of water. dehydration is one of the main causes of BH contractions. make sure you're keeping your bladder empty. and if you can, lie on your left side for a while to improve circulation. it is always better to call and have it turn out to be nothing, than to not call and not know, especially since your due is still so far away...
hope you are doing well, let us know how things are going. :D
Is everything Okay Renee?

Did you call? If it was braxton hicks, walking and a hot shower always helped mine. I hope everything is going well.

I'm sorry I missed your post last night but am hoping you are okay. I will be praying. Stephanie
Hey. I never ended up phoning but I haven't had any more pains. If I do then I will phone straight away. They were pretty bad because I was balling my eyes out and wanted to get down on the floor on my hands and knees and wanted Paul to rub my back. He was asleep though and I didn't want to wake him up after the other night when he got mad at me for waking him up all the time because he was snoring  But he said I should have woken him up. Oh well... I never know with him.
I used a heat pack but when I had the pains it wasn't doing anything for them.
