View Full Version : Cramping?

I am now 16 almost 17 weeks and this morning have had a lot of cramping. Not bad, just sort of unsettling. I know cramping is normal in the first trimester (with no bleeding) as your body is adjusting. But this is sort of making me worry.
I lost one of ours (a twin of this one) at about 6-8 weeks, so I am concerned that something might be wrong. I do have an appointment tomorrow afternoon, and no bleedingas of yet, but the cramping is pretty constant and really starting to worry me.
Do you guys think I should call my doctor or maybe go see her today? Or is this normal at this point?

Thanks -

I'd go in if it's that worrisome....usually the cramping subsides by 12 weeks or so they say....make her see you today. Just don't take no for an answer, better safe than sorry.....
prayers, keep us posted!

I just talked to the nurse and she is going to talk to the doctor. Since there isn't any discharge or bleeding, she figures they will just want me to take the afternoon off and relax a bit and then come in for my regular appt. tomorrow and maybe do an ultrasound. Anyway, I hope they call back soon. If I dont' hear anything back within the hour I will page the doctor directly.

Thanks for your help. Please keep praying for us.

Doctor called back. Wants me to come give a urine sample to check for a possible UTI. I hadn't thought about that, but she's right, it could be.

So, I'm going to run by there on my way home tonight then go in for my regular appointment tomorrow.

She of course said if there was ANY discharge or bleeding to come in immediately. So far, I haven't had either, just consisitent cramping and overall discomfort.

Thanks for the prayers.

Ladies-this is getting frustrating. It doesn't seem to be getting any better, and now - my lower back is throbbing too. I just ran down to my PCP office (a block down the road from my office) and the urine sample they took was normal. No UTI

So, I have another call in to my OB and am playing the waiting game again. Oh, this is getting on my last frazzled nerve today! [crytantrum]

Of course encouraging words from my sister were, "you know our cousin did that at 19 weeks and had to be on complete bed rest for the remainder of her pregnancy. Maybe you have the same problem she had."
So not what I want to hear right now.

UGH!!!!!! Of course for me when it rains...it FLOODS! [weatherrain]

Always know that if you feel bad enough that you can walk into an ER anytime this evening and they have an ultrasound right there and can check you out....if you go in with bad cramping though, be prepared for them to call you a "suspected miscarriage" until determined if it is or not...so don't freak when they start off saying that!

My SIL also just experienced some cramping for several days (she's 16 weeks) and went in for an u/s and the doc said everything was ok just where her uterus was growing and body still adjusting. So maybe that could be the same with you.

Praying for you, Katie [prayer]

Praying for you. Have you tried sitting in a warm bath? When I get some cramps I do that. It might help them calm down and relax you. I would take it easy tonight and just pray for Gods peace. ( I am praying with you) Try not to worry..I know I know. Know you have a lot of women surrounding you in prayer.

Well, this morning the cramping is better, and yes, I woke up with pain when I urinated. So maybe the test I took at my PCP's yesterday wasn't accurate or it is just beginning to be an infection. I believe the doc may be right and it may indeed be a Urinary Tract Infection. So I have downed about half a gallon of cranberry juice and water this morning and am making lots of trips to the "little girls room".
Either way, I do feel some better today and had a very relaxed nice evening last night being pampered by DH and DS. When my husband picked me up from work, he declared that it was going to be the "men's" turn to cook dinner. It was interesting (deep fried and covered in gravy) but tasty. So, I can't complain! I got to sit on the couch and watch tv and read while they cooked and cleaned up the kitchen.

Thanks for all the prayers ladies! I do feel much better today even with that nagging gotta go sensation, but I will see my OB later today and set up the date for my big ultrasound to verify that we are indeed having a little girl as I really feel we are. I don't like to take antibiotics, so I am going to try to treat this naturally.
