Sorry, this really is all about poop. Feel free to bypass. [whatwacko]

So, last week, while we were still at my mom's in FL, Grace consumed some unknown amount of a glue stick. At first we were told she had licked it. Then some 12 hours later we found said glue stick and she definitely ATE part of it. (The story of her licking it came from my little sibs to my gma to me... sooooo, not totally reliable). That night on our way to dinner Grace has a HUGE explosive poop. Honestly, I had counted myself so blessed for not having so many poop stories with a 1 1/2 year old, ya know? But now... this topped all. It took my mom and me to get her clean at the restaurant. Thankfully the handicap stall had a sink of it's own we could get her in to wash it off. It was horrible. Just horrible. So we get home from dinner, realize she ate this glue, and I call Poison Control right away. They say they doubt her diarrhea was from the glue but to watch it. If it gets worse or continues, they say it's definitely NOT the glue stick. So OK... She has another explosion that night but the next day doesn't have one until we are back home in WI - SO glad she didn't do it on the airplane! [whatwacko] But then it's Saturday and Sunday... so we decide to wait it out and see how she does at home with our regular routine and food (although she ate the same things there).

Fast forward to yesterday, she has another bad diaper explosion!! [sadashamed] She's had one or two the last few days. Essentially, she hasn't had a regular poop with any consistency in a week or so. Poor baby! She's happy though. Sleeping well. No fever. Keeping fluids down otherwise. And making wet diapers. Eating fine. Sooooo... ?????

I called the dr this morning. Obviously, something is going on. And I am so tired of cleaning up poop!! I hope it's nothing serious and they can figure it out right away with nothing too extensive or intrusive.

We have an appointment tomorrow afternoon. I wish we could get in today but the doc isn't in. Boo! Oh well... I doubt anything will change in the next 24 hours if it hasn't in the last week.

Payton went through a stage just like that. No other symptoms just massive blow-out poos. We took a stool sample in and results came back normal. After about 2-1/2 weeks things went back to normal. No explanation. He was about 1-1/2 I think. Hope things get back to normal soon, I know how you feel in getting tired of cleaning those huge messes. I was really worried about him too, not knowing what was wrong and all. Hope it gets better!

Interesting! Yeah that's the same age too. I'm not too worried, just curious! I know she has some food sensitivities but this is lasting so long... seems impossible it could be anything like that. But who knows! :)

Thanks for sharing your good news. I hope it's the same with Grace!

Is she cutting any teeth?? My boys would have major messy & super stinky diapers when they were cutting teeth, especially the molars.

Thanks gals. Nope, she's not teething.

I do have a new theory though...

I am still BFing her. My milk could be changing and the colostrum has a laxative effect to help clean out the meconium in new babies! SO! Her tummy may just need to adjust as my body changes. She hasn't shown any signs of slowing down with the BFing at her naps. So we'll see.

It definitely could be the laxative effect of the colostrum!

That's fantastic that she's still nursing! :D

If she has kept her interest up, even through colostrum, etc. it's probably somewhat likely that she'll go on to tandem with the baby. [thumbsup]

Welllllllll, I was hoping, hoping, hoping that my milk would be noticably different. That way we'd know for sure that that was it. BUT! I looked last night and again today and nope... milk is still totally milky white. :-/ We'll see what doc has to say later this afternoon.

Thanks for the encouragement Ruth. I'm a little nervous how it's going to be with two nursing - not for supply issues or anything. More because I'm the only one that can get Grace to sleep right now. She falls asleep nursing for naps and bedtime AND wakes at least once a night to nurse. It'd be fine if it was just her but being pg, it makes me extra tired. And to think of another newborn to the mix... yeah, a little nervous. BUT then I think about how it helps her calm down and how she cuddles with me and looks up at me... I know she's not ready to give it up. And *that* is most important to me right now anyway. :D

It's normal to be nervous. (((hugs))) I know that you won't regret, though, going with Grace's lead and letting her nurse still. You are a great mama! :D

You will get it all figured out, don't worry.

After Micah was born, if I wanted a little peace and quiet time to talk on the phone, I just latched them both on in double football hold. [rofl]

Hannah's been weaned for a few months now but she still talks about when she used to nurse and she has very fond memories of it. I'm glad that we waited to wean until the time was right for us. [thumbsup]
