I found out at Dawson's 6 month checkup that he has some eczema (I knew it was SOMETHING just didn't know what exactly). I was wondering if any of you ladies had some natural treatment recommendation for this. She mentioned a medicated OTC cream I could use, can't remember what at the moment but I would like something a bit more natural if there is anything.
TIA :)

oatmeal bath is great for excema, be careful with medicated creams because it burns sometimes on excema, oatmeal is the only natural thing I use lol I do dove body wash for sensitive skin on ds2 and ds4(who have excema) and I do eucerin cream in the jar the original cream, I get the equate at walmart its alot cheaper but that is just really petroleum jelly vaseline and lanolin, aveeno was a big no no on ds2 because it always burned him, so I just stuck with regular stuff like vaseline even had someone recommend crisco lol but anyways anxious to know some natural things other than oatmeal baths

Abby had reallly really bad. As soon (within 2 min) as she would get out of the bath I put vasline on her. You can use tea tree oil as well. especially if it is minor. Tea tree oil is great for all sorts of things. Also if you give your kids a cup of chloraphyl with water each day it helps as well.

We use adveno lotion and it helps most of time.

Ditto the recs said...be careful using tea tree oil though, it can burn if placed directly on the skin...like a chemical burn if not diluted correctly....just check your concentration and dilution with the health food store! ;-)
...and if you need something a little stronger, a little cortizone cream every other day for a week can really help....after rubbing that in, cover with vaseline and cover with breathable cotton (shirt or sock or whatever applicable based on location!)

We used the Therapy lotion that Burt's Bees has out. Israel had it for about a year and I don't know if he's grown out of it or what... but he doesn't have it any more?... (for at least 6 months now)

excema is a skin allergy also, so it could be something that is bothering his skin, the worst excema was ds2, but they all had it but it was fixable with ds1 it was dreft once I switched to tide free or all free his excema was no longer a problem, ds 2 was his bath soap and also dyes in koolaide and cinnamon, he had lots but now that he is 5yrs old he has grown out of it but huge problem when he was 3yr and under (he would have to be put on steriods sometimes because it got so bad) so in other words your little boy could be from something too, like a new baby food, or change shampoo or soaps, new lotions, new laundry detergent, or something like that. ds4 was bath soap, he was sharing a bath with ds3 and ds3 shampoo and soap bothered ds4 so now that I changed ds3 to the same thing as ds4 no more problem, now ds4 still has flare ups but its manageable since we know what irrates his skin, hope that helps too :)
