Does anyone have any special stories on how they named their baby? I have a 5 yr. old girl (Sierra) and a 2 yr. old boy (Daniel), and just had my 3rd- a baby girl. She is about 5 weeks old, and beautiful. I am ashamed to say this, but we don't have a name for her yet. :?
Or more accurately, we have a few names. I don't know why it's so hard to name her. We didn't have this much trouble with our first 2. I think it has to do with me being confused about what God wants. [/url]

Don't be too hard on yourself, sweetie! :D

You'll pick a great name for your baby girl!

As far as what God wants, I would say to you that this is one of those many areas where He has given us freedom. This isn't an area where you'll be sinning if you pick one name or another. Praise God for that glorious freedom, girlfriend, and rest assured that the name you pick will be just right for her!

Dh and I made a big name list and narrowed it down to THE name at the last minute for ds # 1 also, so don't feel too bad - coming up with a name that is just right for your baby can be difficult.

edit: I removed the question about which names were on your baby name list bec I saw that was in another thread :)

My first daughter was originally going to be Audrey Elizabeth, a name that DH and I had agreed on while we were still engaged. But, as fate would have it, his mother was killed in an accident around the time that Audrey was conceived. I wanted to honor her by naming her first grandchild after her, so she became Audrey Sharon.

With my last, I had a few name ideas, but hadn't settled. Leaning strong to one or two, but just hadn't settled.
Then once he was born I knew I wanted something that meant "God is my strength" or something along those lines. As I leaned hard on Him to get me through. He was our first PLANNED unassisted homebirth. Just a week or two earlier I had suffered a bad panic attack (which I later discovered was MSG induced, but that's another story), so when labor hit again I was scared that was going to come again as well (had a bad time with pg #3, so there's more story that I just can't possibly fit in this post at this time LOL). So anyway, I prayed through the entire labor and basically chanted "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" and such. So, He pulled me through, He gave me the strength I needed. I wanted to give Him the credit and acknowledgement.
So, the morning after he was born we settled on one of the names that meant God is my strength.

I would have been ok with waiting longer for a name. But then again, I have a mean streak in me...I rather enjoyed when folks inquired of his name I could say 'we're not sure yet' LOL I took much pleasure in that.

Don't sweat it. Just sit back, relax, gaze into that baby's eyes...close yours and listen to God. He'll give you a name, trust that He will.

I had a hard time conceiving our baby son. While TTC I found myself drawn to the Bible and I found the book of 1 Samuel and the story of Hannah. I decided to name our baby Samuel if we ever got pg and had a boy. He has his daddy's middle name, Christoper. When we had talked about a girl's name, we talked about different ones and nothing seemed to fit us. We finally found one, my hubby is a Minister of Music and we settled on Melody for the musical side of our lives and Michelle as middle name for my namesake. Hope this helps!

One option: Look up the most popular names of girls in the year that you and DH were born and use one of them?
