In the very very beginning he will probably only be taking around 2 or 3 oz. But in no time you'll be fixing 4 oz bottles and he'll drink it up! Your pediatrician can guide you with more specifics. After a while (months probably) you'll see that that isn't filling him up and you can move up to 6 oz. and so on and so forth.
At least that's what I did...hope that helped!

I remember starting at 4 oz., because I think they always said have more in the bottle than they drink it helps not letting air into their bellies. I think it depends on how old and how big and if they have any reflux or belly ache problems too.
I did the opposite of you, I formula fed now I'm breastfeeding so its been a while.
I would call your dr. as well to get the exact amount you should be making and how often and how much baby should drink to be sure.
I have found that it depends on the child. My first son took 4 oz the day he was born! (He is now 8 and is still hungry!!!) My second son only took about 2 oz if I was lucky. I am not good at keeping a schedule, I feel they are like us and will eat on their own schedules - when and how much they want. But check w/your ped. I would think no more than 2-4 oz to start, and watch how he does w/it.

I think baby's are supposed to only take about .5-2 oz when they are born, but Isaac took almost 4 oz I think! One scoop of formula makes 2 oz. So to make 2 oz you put one scoop of formula and fill with Nursery Water or boiled water (after it's cooled of course) to 2 oz. For 4 oz it's 2 scoops and so on.
You probably already knew most of this but I wanted to help out in case you didn't! Hope that helped!

Thank you guys for your help. :) I have been giving him 3 ounces and sometimes he'll take 2 which he seems to be content with. Was just wondering if i was doing it right.
I know that in NZ they put a recommended amount for each feeding at each age on the back of the tin.
I know Abby was having 50mls as a newborn.
