Or do you use a Bible storybook?

I use a Bible Storybook. Since we strictly use the KJV version, it's a little hard for a 4 year old to understand. This way she gets to hear and understand the stories.

What's the name of the book that you read?

With the two older girls I read the Bible. They have versions that are easy to understand and we compare my version to theirs. The two little ones, though, we read Bible stories more than anything...although they do have to sit and listen to the Bible some too even if they don't quite understand. They know we're reading from the Bible.

Yes, but not as much as I should. I think we use story books or kids devotionals more. She's 5 :D

I used to every night but since they have gotten older and tons of sports I have FAILED to keep it up. Guess I should start it up again.

Phyll, the book we use is: Read and Learn Bible. I think my sister got it at WalMart.

We use a children's Bible called "Hermie & Friends". Even the older kids love it because the characters look almost like the "Bugs Life" critters. We focus on one story each week and there are even questions and answers. It's a great version and easy to read & understand :)

My daughter and I went read the Little Girls Bible Storybook for Mothers and Daughters by Carolyn Larsen. It is set up like a devotional. It was a special time mommy and daughter time focusing on the Word. She was about 7 when we went through it. I think they make one for boys also.

Wes has a Childrens Bible. It is a board book which is great because at 2, he still rips real pages. It has colorful pictures for him to look at and he loves it.

We have the Gold & Honey Bible for younger children (shortened stories and lots of colorful illustrations) and the NIrV Kids' Quest Study Bible for the older kids.

I read from my bible but will use story books for pictures for the kids whether at home or at church (I run the preschool department).

I love the Read with Me Bible that we have. The pictures are bright, and it's just a really great one.

The devotional we use is The One Year Book of Devotions for Preschoolers. It's wrby Crystal Bowman. http://www.amazon.ca/exec/obidos/ASIN/0842389407/qid=1146235479/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl/702-7137778-7152803

It's fabulous. Short little devotions, sweet pics, a little prayer and a bible verse at the end of each one.

I haven't done this yet- I guess you could say it's an area I wrestle with- I guess I don't always know whether it is necessary to start before preschool age- though in light of eveything else we read/watch, I guess I feel a bit guilty about thinking that way- I have always struggled witht the subject of teaching religion to kids, and whether these three year olds that recite verses and repeat prayers really understand- I always thought we were "off the hook" until the age of understanding and I'm not to sure when that is. Advice??

Children are sponges. Think about how they are constantly watching and mimicking us. Before we moved, I taught 2-3yr olds at our bible church. It really was amazing how much these children learned and retained. We used a lot of visuals and the key is to repeat things 3 times... storytime, table time, songs, talk during snack time... How wonderful to have THEM tell you about the story the next week! :D

Yes. I read the Bible and Bible stories. I think that it is important to start them early. My six year old is now reading and he does read "his" Bible now.

I have been reading my son Veggie Tales board books, but not the Bible yet - if you have a board book bible, is it like this one?

I am going to check out the toddler devotionals book, too - thanks to everyone for listing the names of books they use and links!

We use a Bible Story book that I read from as a child. What I like to do is let Julia look through it and then we read which ever story captures her attention. Around Easter and Christmas we read stories relating to those holidays.

I use a Bible Storybook. I went into a dollar store the other day and found Bible Storybooks there, they only had like 2 stories in them, but they are the plastic type cover and the really thick pages, so she can't tear the pages out of them. She loves to act like she reading! The things they do!

When they were little we would read from the little kids bibles every morning and every night. As they got older I would read from older Bibles and increase as they went along. I would use Keys for Kids as guides too and read the section they recommend and then the story illustration that goes along with it. Now that they are 16,14,12, and 10 ( all boys) we still do devotions every morning and every evening. I read a chapter of the Bible and a devotional that goes along. Then I read a character building story. I love the Miller books. Wisdom with the Millers, Prudence with teh Millers.. and Boyhood and Beyond is great for 9 and up boys. Then I read a oud a chapter of a read aloud chapter book. Sometimes they are classics and sometimes they are more godly stories with godly characters in them. The younger ones learned to follow along as I began to read some of the older stuff to older ones and now the older ones sit and listen as I read character stories that are geared more to the younger ones. I mix it up! Kep it at a level they understand and show them that reading the Bible every day is JUST what you do!

we do the kids Bibles, and I use teachable moments - like the other day there was a rainbow so I took the kids outside and we went over the story of Noah.

My 6 year old - we read the verse of the day at biblegateway.com pretty regularly. He thinks it's cool cause it's on the computer.
