Hi,
My dd is just about 2 yo, and she still drinks homogenized milk. When she is 2, does she then go to 2% milk?
Thanks.

Our two docs told us and we did...formula until 1 year, then whole milk until 2 years, then at 2 swtiched to 2 percent milk! Man that helped the milk bill at the store each week...only having to buy one type! LOL

That's what our pediatrician told us too.

Ours told us the same for the first two years, but said after she was 2 that skim was fine as well.

Same here - my son won't even drink whole milk when my grandma tries to give it to him, he thinks it tastes funny. He's a 2% boy all the way.

I have a 1 year old and a 3 year old, but I like 1%, so should I be buying 3 kinds of milk at the grocery store?!?!?! Usually the 3 year old just drinks 1% or homo...

My pedi at my son's 12 mos. appmnt. said whole milk or 2% is fine to give him. We have been giving him whole milk, he is a little boy anyway and I think he needs the extra fat now so we buy the whole for him and 2% for us. I guess at 2 years we can go to all 2%.

According to my ped, they need the extra fat from whole milk until they're 2, then it's ok to just switch them to whatever the rest of the family drinks. For us, that's 2%. I prefer skim, but DH doesn't, so that was my first married compromise!

Yep, I was told the same thing - that from 1-2 kids need the extra fat in whole milk, but after 2 their growth slows a little so they only need 2% - that is what ds has now and he is just over 2.
