Has anyone read thsi book? I just got it at the library and I'm already baffled at chapter 1 :? . The book is saying how I must have noticed how much easier 2 is than the 18-21 month old stage, how 2's are much milder and more easy-going, how they love to sit and cuddle, while an 18-21 month old will squirm away... Uh, I'm finding the complete opposite!! Up until the past month or so ds has always been happy-go-lucky, but now its like every day is one long whine-a-thon; everything upsets him! He loves to hug, kiss and cuddle, just not quite as often as before. I'm finding 2 to be MUCH more difficult. And then the book says its gets worse at 2.5...it gets worse??!!

Ordinarily I'm not a "prenting book" kind of mom, but I am so baffled by his new, difficult personality that I want to understand him better so I can help him.

Lordy, YES! I personally think whoever wrote that book has never had a two year old! Yikes! Things were pretty smooth sailing....until 28 months hit...and "God give me the strength!" We're now into the worst four letter word in our house..."MINE" and the tantrum or throwing himself into a terribly heavy pile on the floor crying (in public OF COURSE!) when he doesn't get his way at times......OY! One day at a time...so unpredictable too right now....some great days and some really darn bad ones!

I haven't read the book, nor do I know the author, but I just think it's funny how alot of the parenting books/guides/magazines are written by people who have never even had children!!! Good luck, my niece is almost 3 and she is quite a handful. “This too shall pass…”

I totally disagree with what that book is saying about 2 being easier than 18-21 mos. My two year old has gotten more moody, not less, recently also. He gets irritated/upset/frustrated much more easily than before, but at the same time is also a super acrobat and can climb onto or into seemingly anything now. They call it the terrible 2's for a reason!
He is still my special little guy and we are practicing using his "big boy words" to help him work thru/express his feelings better. I know someday I will miss this time with him, so I will treasure it while I can

Oh thank goodness! I rarely pay attention to books, but I was starting to worry that he was regressing, but he's never been difficult so I had no idea what's come over him!

My dd is almost 2, and I have found that for a while there seemed to be nothing you could do to have her sit still! Now it seems she has calmed down a bit, to sit and cuddle but who knows how long that will last for?! My mother thought that she was a cuddly baby to begin with. Oh well. I will enjoy it while it lasts!

Maybe some dd's are like that, but I haven't seen a 2 yr. old boy that isn't climbing off the walls..
