For those that use these, how many pads do you have in your stash? How often do you have to change them? More than disposables?
TIA :)

TIA :) BlessedMommy 08-30-2010, 10:49 PM I change probably about the same as I did disposables. You don't have to change them every hour or anything, it's pretty comparable. With my ones that use liners, I can add an extra liner for nighttime. I just upgraded the size of my stash (going to cloth as a primary AF product instead of more as a Diva Cup backup), let me go count.... 8 homemade pads (made from tutorial) 4 maxi Lunapads (use with liners) A whole bunch of liners to go with them 4 mini Lunapads for light days 3 WAHM made pads So that is 19 pads, but bear in mind that the pads that go with liners can probably be used a couple of times before washing, because you just change the liner. I have a feeling that this sized stash will get me through my cycle without a problem, but I'll let you know how it goes next time I get AF. :) Jessy 08-30-2010, 11:21 PM Thanks, Ruth, I was thinking 20 would probably work. :) Can I just do thicker liners for the nighttime/heavy flow day pads when I sew them? I'm not sure I wanna deal with just changing the liners, I want them built in, ya know? Any other options for something for a heavier flow? I've never had super heavy periods but I'm not sure what my body will do since I've not had a pp AF yet. [whatwacko] Though I'm not complaining about that! hehe Cheeseburger 08-31-2010, 12:28 AM i think I only have 9 pads. But I mainly use 5... I don't like the small ones that came with the particular kit I bought... But I do laundry everyday, so they get cleaned the day they get used and are ready again the next day, so I don't find that I need a LOT since it's only for one week out of the month. BlessedMommy 08-31-2010, 08:54 AM Jessy, the pads in the tutorial that I posted have a pocket sewn on the underside. You can stuff that with extra absorbency if needed. Timmys mom 08-31-2010, 09:08 AM I have 10 pads. 1 overnight, 4 medium/heavy, 5 med/light. But I think ideally I'd want 2 overnight, 5-6 Medium and 3-4 light. But mine works fine. I just wash them everyday like Cheese. I'd say bare minimum would be 1 overnight, 4 med/heavy, 3 med/light. (For me anyway.) I got mine all off ebay, and I like them. The only think is that people differ to what they call heavy, medium, light. For instance, I got mine from different sellers. And both my medium/heavy flow, and the medium/light flow pads were labled medium. So I thought I'd have more for my heavier days then I do. Jessy 08-31-2010, 12:23 PM Thanks for all your replies! :) Helpful info for sure! What do you all do when away from home, not sure about carrying around a dirty one?! BlessedMommy 08-31-2010, 12:34 PM Thanks for all your replies! :) Helpful info for sure! What do you all do when away from home, not sure about carrying around a dirty one?! You know the wet bags that people use to carry around used cloth diapers? Well, you can get a smaller one for pads. Then you just put the used pad in the bag and take it home. Here's an example of one: http://living.wallypop.net/cyclepads.html melloyellochelle 08-31-2010, 02:34 PM Wow! Just realizing how dinky my stash is! LOL! I only have 6! 1 heavy, 4 med, 1 light. I DEFINITELY need more though because just about every cycle i was having to use some other form of something. But I wash with my CDs so about every other day. And my cycles were fairly light still I guess. ;-) |
