View Full Version : Getting used to the idea of having multiple cycles, lol
BlessedMommy 08-11-2010, 12:13 PM I learned NFP before I got married, but due to being open to kids and having lots of BF'ing infertility, I never had many cycles until now.
Today I started AF #4 since having Micah. He will turn 18 months at the end of August. It's a whole new world now that we are TTA, hehe.
Since getting married, no periods before conceiving DD (married mid-cycle and conceived right away), 2 periods between DD and DS (had lots of breastfeeding infertility and was thinking about having another one by the time AF showed up), and now finally back into having cycles after DS. (AF showed up at 4 days shy of 14 months PP)
I actually rather like it. Kind of nice to have a pattern and know when to expect AF. I'm enjoying the "pretty" charts and nice temp shifts.
IIRC, my first full PP cycle was 46 days long with a 14 day LP, the second was 33 days long with a 13 day LP, my 3rd was 31 days long with a 12 day LP. So it looks like things are regulating themselves nicely.
How is everybody else doing?

You mean as far as works so well that you don't have many cycles?
Well, from my previous posts, Ruth, you know I'd rather have AF than NOT have her. ::Snort:: Something about being able to *know* when she's coming, vs. having NO clue when she'll show up. :) I still haven't gotten my first PPAF, which has me absolutely baffled... but I keep getting cramping once a month, and expect her to show... then the week goes by and *nothing* and I'm feeling normal again. ::sigh:: So... I kinda envy (eewww, I used the *E* word!!) you that you have a "normal" cycle back. ;)

I hear you. Since we are seriously TTA this time around, I was very glad to get AF back a few months sooner than last time!
And if I count right, Wyatt is almost 6 months old. Yikes! Weren't you just sharing his birth story yesterday???
Is this like a record for the longest you've gone without AF?
Yuh!!! Typically it comes back at 3 months PP! It's crazy! He does seem to nurse more than the girls, BUT- mainly I am not pushing cups and food. He still has not started solids and the like... so, that, I believe, has made a huge difference this time around. :)

Totally!! AF is not kind to this mommy...it runs in my family. Mom had to have a hysterectomy at the age of 30-32 because of this exactly. TMI warning ... But she would just stand in the shower and the blood would just RUN... She couldn't exactly function this way with 4 kids ages 2-10?? probably. So yeah, I'm fine with bfing keeping AF away a little longer:)
still no AF here:D 10months and no signs of her coming back anytime soon. I love not having AF!
Ha! That's awesome, Eva!!
ChamomileFriend 08-14-2010, 08:53 AM Yep, it will be 10mos next week with no AF here, too. This is the longest its lasted - with # 1 it was 9 mos and # 2 it was 4 mos.
Hi - I take it AF means period starting after having the baby? If so, mine usually returned after 9 to 10mths. I noticed it was delayed also when I wasn't pushing solids for the baby too soon. And I also noticed when I continued night feedings it held off longer too.
AF stands for Aunt Flow... Referring to your period. :)
Kristyau 08-15-2010, 01:07 AM I am so jealous!!! I BF'd all my kids and always ovulated (and therefore got AF) within days of the Lochia finishing. Probably sounds wierd, but I don't like getting AF as it's a reminder I'm not pregnant that month (not that we're actively trying at the moment, I just always feel like it's another missed opportunity).
Until a couple years ago I suffered endometriosis, so I really hated AF then because it meant unbearable pain. Praise God I'm healed from that now[claphigh]
