I haven't had a chance to look at every topic, so I apologize if this has been asked before, but do any of you send your children to a Christian school?
We have chosen Christian school for our kids, and I was just wondering if there were others here who do the same....

We've done it all
I homeschooled my older daughter for three years (k,1,2) and now she attends a private Christian school. Homeschooling was tough for us because we live in a very rural area without a lot of support. My daughter was lonely and seemed angry. It was also tough schooling her while caring for my younger daughter's needs, which included weekly therapy visits (3x), doctor visits, feeding, diapering, exercising, etc. For several reasons we chose to put our older daughter in private Christian school. This is her third year and we are very pleased with the values, curriculum, environment etc. She is very happy. She makes straight A's and is praying with her class and studying God's word daily. She also plays on the Basketball team and is on the speech team. The toughest part is the expense  . But PTL the grandparents help. My younger daughter is in public school. She has multiple disabilities and we felt she needed people with degrees and training for working with children with special needs. We are also very pleased with her public school situation. Her teachers and therapists (many are Christians) are loving and nurturing to her. She has made tons of friends, and I am involved in all aspects of her educational planning. I am involved in both girls schools and talk daily with both of their teachers. I think that makes a difference.

Currently our 4 year old goes to a Christian playschool and is registered to start kindergarten at the Private Christian School in town. So far I have no complaints regarding the playschool and he's been there since fall of 2005.

I attended a Private Christian School until I was in 7th grade... best thing my parents ever did for me!! Highly recommend. Just be sure to check the curriculum and practices on discipline!

We send our oldest to Christian school. Our others will follow but aren't old enough yet. We really think it is an important step for us. A close nit school community is very important to us and we have sent him since JK. What he is being taught is one less thing that we have to worry about. Amy

i wish we could, but we just cant afford it for three kids. If i do end up homeschooling, it will be sonlight or Abeka curriculum.

We struggled with it at first and then it became more about the education and the money became obsolete. It just seems to work out every year. I just have faith that it always will. God always provides.

I went to Christian schools off and on between homeschooling as a child. If financially I'm unable to become a SAHM when our kids go to school in the next 2-3 years, I will enroll them in a local Christian school that has really decent tuition prices. Actually cheaper than my daycare costs are right now.

We haven't found a great christian school in our area yet. Hopefully because I would love to send my kids.

We started last year sending Madyson to a local Church here in town for their preschool program. It has been amazing and she loves it. She will go again this next school year and then start Kind. at the local elementary school in 08 our schools here are really good. We have already enrolled Emma to go to the same SonShine Preschool with Mady this next year as well.

My kids go to an awesome Christian private school. They love it and we love it. We are so thankful to the Lord that this school is still around, about 8 years ago they only had around 35 students and they weren't sure if it would remain open, this year 109 are enrolled to attend. Praise the Lord.

our dd#1 is starting pre-school at a christian school near where we live. if all goes well, we'd really like to keep her there through middle school at least (they only go up through 6th grade right now - they are hoping to expand to 8th grade, and then on to highschool in the next few years).

our issue, as is common with most families, is the money. we can barely afford preschool, and once she's full time there's no way at this time that we could afford it. this is when I start thinking more about school vouchers and such. do any of you live in states that allow vouchers for private school? our state (WA) currently does not, but it's an issue that comes up every election.

When in Ohio, our oldest got the best education at a christian school. They offer financial aid there, we had half our tuition paid every year.
My youngest only got to go half a year there. They have been in public ever since.
Here in NC, I cant find anything affordable. Even the cheapest one is more expensive then the full price at the school in Ohio. But the school they are in here is not bad at all. They have some of the highest math scores around. And they are small and there are lots of good kids. They have only been in about 2 monthes here because its year round and we moved after the term started.

I do love the Abeka. If we homeschool I will do Abeka or Sonlight. I would love to do Sonlight and use some Abeka for supplemental. I like Sonlight because its lit based and I think reading is so important when learning.

my two older kids ( grades 2 and jk) go to an awesome christian school. the school only has about 110 kids in it from pre kindergarten to grade 8. it is a very close knit school, like 1 big family. my son had surgery in sept and the whole school made get well cards. some of his " bigger friends" from grade 7 and 8 delivered them to our house and ended up staying to watch his favorite movie with him. the school is family, and my children are being taught by teachers who believe in the same things as us.
at the beginning i contstantly worried about how we would pay for it, but it is the environment and the education, and we left the money part up to God, and He always provides.
