DD is 16.5 mths and her afternoon nap started getting shorter some days. My husband thought she might be ready to drop a.m. nap. How did you all do this, for the ones whose babies dropped am nap around the same age?
Did you move the morning nap later? Or just shrink it down and then cut it out altogether? Thanks!

My dd who is now almost 2 dropped her morning nap not long after she was 1. She just did it on her own. Now she just has an afternoon nap, but somedays that is even questionable whether she will or not!

When my ds was around 1 he dropped his morning nap too but started taking a 2-3 hour nap in the afternoons. Now dd slept late in the morning so she never really had a morning nap and most of the time not an afternoon one either. Stephanie :D

Our Dd is just over 17 months now and she only takes a "morning" nap. She actually started cutting our her 2nd nap around a year old or so (I think...it's hard to remember), but she is totally a one napper now. She has to take her nap in the mid-morning or close to noon or else she will have a hard time sleeping at night.
But to answer your question, we didn't "drop" her nap, she kind of did it on her own. I saw that she was having a hard time going to sleep for that second nap, so after trying to get her down, I finally gave up trying, and now the only time she sleeps in the afternoon is in the car...and we try and avoid that. I know some say that if kids fall asleep in the car they need more sleep or naps, but she will fall asleep in the car if she has had two or three naps, so I know it's not that.
I say, try not putting her down for the nap you decide to cut out and see how she does until her one nap time. You may have to adjust nap time to be a bit earlier if she gets too tired and cranky while waiting for the afternoon nap, or you may try and see if her going down midmorning/noontime still ends up in a bit of cranky-ness before bed....try putting her down to bed a bit earlier. Maybe you will gain a little more time with Dh at night!
Ok, so just FYI, I only have one DC..so I am only going on what I have done with her..... :D
