OK, my son has found a new toy (so my husband calls it) down in his pants! It's driving us nuts and we don't know how to deal with it. We don't want to make him feel "bad" for doing it but then again we don't want to just ignore it and hope this habit goes away. And this is exactly what it's turned in to... a habit. He tries to do this to fall asleep and sometimes we catch him walking around doing this. We've just said, "please get your hands out of your pants" and it seems to work for the moment... but it just seems like he's doing it ALL the time! We hope this is just a phase that little boys go through. Anyone else have experience with this??

is he still in diapers? Sometimes it can be itchy and such, especially in summer when they sweat a lot.

anyways, our boy went through that also, he eventually quit doing it. we had to wash his hands frequently. we would remind him from time to time not to put his hands down his pants but we otherwise didn't make a huge deal out if it. it went away on its own, so, a phase i guess. probably just discovered something new! lol

Is this your first boy? Unless Im not reading your siggie right, Im guessing he is... If he is then you probably wont know that all boys do this. I never knew a little 2yo boy who didnt[whatwacko]. They do absolutely grow out of it. Just like Nicole said its there, it gets itchy. And for little guys its just a way cool thing. Nothing sordid or gross about it really... unless we are a really degenerate sort of folk. You could keep telling him to take his hand out of his pants it might work if you are patient with it.

My oldest daughter did this, but in the back... she constantly had her hand in her pants scratching... I would use a baby powder on her to help with the itching... it *did* seem to help. I would just remind her to keep her hands out of her pants... :)
