Alanna has some dry skin issues due to being overdue.... I'm just wondering if anyone has any baby lotion recommendations? She is constantly dry and peeling.... maybe it will go away on its own with time, but the lotions we have don't seem to really help. TIA!

Also, I'm just wondering how fast babies grow in length. There were some mix ups at the hospital in terms of their, umm, ability to weigh her properly. (The nurse said she was 6lbs13oz, but two days later she weighed in at 7lbs10oz. [whatwacko] I guess we'll never really know what she weighed at birth. lol) Anyway, they measured her at just over 18inches at the hospital, but I just measured her today and she was just shy of 20inches. My brain is working a little slow these days, but I'm thinking she can't have grown almost 2 inches in just under two weeks, right??

I used aquaphor for our kids, it's made by Eucerin. They also have a Eucerin lotion, but I haven't used it. Aquaphor is more like Vaseline, and I think it works better than a lotion. As far as the length thing, I had that happen with a couple of ours and someone told me they haven't actually grown that much, but their muscles and tendons are relaxing and allowing their legs to stretch more, just loosening up from being cramped up inside.:-D

My youngest DD was 2 weeks late and her whole body peeled. Lotion didn't do any good, the skin just needed to come off. Even her eyelids peeled! It was pretty wild but was over at about 3 or 4 weeks I think.

Both my kidos were 41 weekers and peeled like crazy lotion doesn't help it's just need to peel if she get raw cracked or spots around her ankles, neck wrists or knees I put lanolin (nipple cream)on those. Both of my kis were over a pound heavier by their 1 week check-up and DS was 2 inches taller so yes it is possible for her to have grown that much.

within 2 minutes of getting out of the tub make sure you put a good lotion/vaseline on them. Vaseline is acutally the same as aquafor. just tons cheaper. Eucerin makes a nice thick lotion as well. I would just apply it in the morning and at night and right out of the bath. HTH

We use Glaxal base cream, it really does not smell the best but works great. When we were living at the Children's hospital Dd's skin was very dry and that is what they gave us to use. She said all the nurses use it too. Also really like Aveeno oatmeal cream for everyday. There is no junk in it. :-D Just that the glaxal works great on the tough stuff.

Tammy and Erin, I think you are right. I think her skin just needs to slough that top layer. It's already calming down just over the last day or two. And thanks for the lotion suggestions everyone! :)
