So, I've got a tmi question... I hope it's ok I post it here!

My doc told me last week that after bd'ing, if things with dh have worked, I should have stuff running down my leg when I stand up.
First of all, I told her I NEVER stand up right away afterwards... gotta give 'em time to swim, you know! [OK] But anyways, when you DO stand up, if nothing comes out, then we need to do it again.

The other day, we bd'd and half an hour later, nothing came out. Because of the time of day, we weren't able to bd again. However, a few hours later, I definitely noticed something coming out (when I laughed... [rofl])!

So, *I* always figured it was a good thing if nothing came out right away - I thought it meant those swimmers were staying up there and making their way in... but now I'm not so sure. Anyone know how this is supposed to work?

TIA ladies!

Well, for me when I stand up right after bding it doesn't really run out, but I can feel it, like it is going to. I run to the bathroom to clean up, and I am usually pretty goopy (sorry if tmi) When we were ttc and would stay on my back for a while to let the swimmers swim, I don't remember being as goopy as I am when I don't lay on my back. hth.

I always assumed it was good if nothing was running out. I don't understand why it would be good because that would mean there were less swimmers in there. I am interested to hear the reasoning behind that....
Sorry if I wasn't much help!

I always looked at it is as if you have a lot running out it's because there was A LOT of swimmers and your body cant hold it all. like if it's been a while since bding, I will notice a lot more goo running out then if we just bd the night before. Just my thoughts...nothing to back that.

Ok, so maybe I'm the odd ball here?? but yeah...I always lay there for a little (can't stand that feeling for long tho...lol) But it runs- a lot. We also got pg quickly. Although I have NO idea if there is any link there? I always thought it was a lil *yuck*...but maybe it actually is a good thing? I woulda thought that just means there's not enough room inside me for everything, which I *thought* was a bad thing...but apparently not? Best wishes to you!!

I'm also in the camp of: lay there a while, always had a 'mess' AND evidently get pg quite easily.

Very interesting stuff, honestly.

I think the "more you do it" the less "goo"... right? That's why they even recommend to not do it everyday if you are ttc... they say to do it every other day... So I guess... the body of the man has more time to recuperate ... and produce more swimmers.... I guess that's why it's a good thing that "there is that much" ...

I can't stand just laying there... I actually almost push hubby away to go clean... Now that I am pregnant we are using a condom (weird huh???) but it makes me SICK to have that "runny" feeling... iack!

always messy here and easily pg also... if dh hadn't gotten snipped we'd be up to 5 kids or something by now at the rate we were going. how long it's been doesn't seem to really make a difference mess-wise. TMI: We always do it on a towel so it doesn't get on the bedsheets (otherwise i'd be washing sheets several times a week, ugh), and I have to have a washcloth or some kleenexes or something or else it will get everywhere on my way to the shower :???: I know, it's gross. lol

Cheesy, we have towels handy too LOL

Frequency doesn't make a huge difference here either. But then again, we're not everyday-ers either. It could be bd skip skip bd bd then skip 2 weeks :p (or when pg sick..skip 2 months LMHO)

Yeah, seriously! lol [rofl] Thanks for being so transparent ladies!

Actually, I'm thinking we're having a problem in that area... *most* of the time, it's just not that messy for us...
Dh has attributed it to the fact that he's got a lot on his mind, he's stressed, etc. but now I'm wondering if there's more to it than that...

Good thing we're going to see the specialist next Tues!

This might be the funniest thread I've read in a while. LOVE it!!! Hilarious and TRUE!

And since we're just puttin' it all out there I'll share this... when we're trying we bd every other day all month (I usually know when I'm ovulating but this is mostly to make hubs happy... perks of the job) and then I lay there with legs up and have an "O". I guess I always think that the contracting from that will suck those little guys up there... or something.
Anyway, it's worked three times! Might totally be a fluke for us... but I think we'll keep that method for the next time 'round!

Ok now I'm laughing too! I guess I have to answer too, yes very messy for us but not a big change with frequency either. I just assumed it was always messy. Who knew!

So... Now we're not going to the specialist on Tues... :(
Dh just isn't ready yet to do his part in 'public', and Ive got an important staff meeting I shouldn't miss... Next month I guess!

It's not messy here either though (I run to the bathroom right away 'cause I don't like the feeling of ANY!!! of it inside of me) but it has never spilled out like that and we don't need any towels... and we seem to get pregnant "just thinking about it" LOL! I mean.... we just say... "What about another baby?" and I am pretty sure I've conceived RIGHT AWAY... I've never done charts or anything, I am not very consistent with "every other day" when we decide to have another one... and we just... get pregnant! so.... I am not so sure the "mess" is really necessary...

Just my experience...

So just FYI, sperm and semen separate while in the vagina, so usually when you get the run-outs it's the semen and the sperm have stayed up in there. I am sure some sperm run out, but they usually separate quickly.

Also, my dh didn't have to give a sample in public. They have special condoms you can use to "catch" his semen and then you can bring it into the office. He can also have manual stimulation and catch in a sample container. That is what we did, and I kept the container in my armpit to keep it warm for the 30 min drive to the clinic. Even after that his sample came back high so we know that his little guys didn't die off during the drive. So there is options.

Have you ever thought of using a condom during non-fertile times to see if he even has ejaculate? Maybe that could be a start for you?

I hope you can get some answers soon sweet sister!

blessings,
Amber

Thanks for that info - I had no idea sperm and semen separated like that!
I'll discuss the rest with dh.
