If you use cloth diapers, what does your baby wear when you go swimming? Thanks!

I use Imse Vimse cloth swim diapers. They are fantastic! I like them much better than disposable swim diapers.

Here's a link for you:

When I used cloth I made my own swim diaper. I used an old shirts of mine that was made out of lycra, basicallly swim suit material, and then pul on the outside. Do you sew?

If you are going to a public pool, check first, ours will only allow disposable ones :(. However, I did read on a blog and have tried, you can wash sposie ones in the washer, just not if they've been poo'd in. Do it on the gentle cycle, with cold, and then the extra low or jut air fluff in the dryer (or hang it). It works pretty well, and saves money that way. Record is about three or four washes before it starts to fall apart. One way I have found to circumvent the system.....

Do they state why they won't allow cloth?

Cloth ones work fine. My kids have had multiple accidents while swimming and in the cloth diapers, and no issues with it getting in the pool. They contain the poop very well.

Nope, but the rules and regs say disposable swim dipes must be used in children 3 and under. And they do use the word disposable. My 3 y.o. has been potty trained for a year and a half now and by the rules still has to wear one. I also live in an area where most kids aren't potty trained until they are three or a bit older as a general rule. People thought I was absolutely nuts starting Dainie out so "young." And no use arguing either, they'll just deny you entry. That and the kids employed by the pools over here are so young that it is pretty pointless to go against it. Granted, I don't think they do diaper checks, so I could use cloth under the one piece suits, and Dainie looks old enough to not get asked if she has one on. Granted, we go so rarely, it isn't much of an issue. Our pools are way too crowded for our comfort and they charge exhorbitant rates so it is a special treat to go. In our wading pools, I just throw them in and not worry about it. They are easy to clean, and I use a two piece swim suit I got on clearance at target last year that is like a shirt and a swim skirt with the swim diaper built in. I think it was Circo brand.

Thanks for the recommendations and wow I never even considered washing a sposie diaper! At the pool we go to they would always ask if my little ds had a diaper on under his suit when he was younger and I would say yes. It was a 'sposie, but they never asked specifically if it was cloth or disposable so I don't see why they would now. I will just tell them she has a diaper on under her suit if/when they ask.

I had exactly the same question about which cloth swim diapers you ladies use!
SO you really like the Imse Vimse ones? I haven't heard of them before! I really like the snap on the side for easy removal.... we all know how nasty those watery poops can be and how awkward it is to take off normal swim diapers. blech.

Oh ya, and what do you think about just using my fuzzibunz without the inserts? I've heard of people doing that before but I just wasn't sure how that worked!
We primarily swim in a lake in the summer.... never ever in a pool. and if by off chance we swim in a pool I just use a disposable because of chlorine.

Yes, we love the Imse Vimse diapers! They've really worked great for us. :D

I have used FB without inserts! Just have to use smaller snap settings. If you just sized up keep one or 2 smaller ones to use. With the chlorine, I made sure to use the same one...... in case it got wrecked... at home in the sprinkler or little pool I always used FB with no insert.

as far as public pools it's never been a problem for us to use cloth!
don't ask don't tell! I put swim trunks over them.
