I can't remember which babyfoods to start first! Is it fruits or vegetables? It's been so long since I've had to feed dd babyfood I can't remember which comes first!
It's kinda like the chicken or the egg question, huh?

I always started on fruits, but I have talked to just as many moms that started with the veggies. Your right it like which came first...
Vegetables are usually recommended first because of the fruits being naturally sweeter and possibly more appealing.

Breast milk is really sweet, so it's usually believed that breastfed babies won't have sweet tooths if they start with fruit. It might even be easier to get them to eat solids if you do start with fruit.
We started with avocado. I thought we might as well do the healthiest first.

I started with pears first with both of my babies and then went to applesauce and then started veggies. Stephanie

they started us with fruits and light colored veggies....sweet potatoes, squash, etc....then green veggies....and on from there! After polling the docs in our SAHM group here lcoally, we found it was about a 50/50 split on how they did it!

Veggies here, same reason as Amy said. On the plus side, my kids love veggies now!

Veggies first makes sense. I am afraid if I give Isaac fruit first he won't take to most veggies (except sweet potatoes). Thanks guys for all your advice!

Hello there, I tried to get Justice to eat rice cereal plain for awhile, then gave up and added applesauce to it and he ate and loved it. The next solid we started was squash. He actually loved it. Other than plain rice cereal, Justice has eaten everything I have given him and actually likes veggies over fruits. He will eat fruit, but he gobbles down the veggies like they are the best tasting thing, even the peas and green beans.
We started with Vegetables. And Abby loves her vegies including Broccoli and Asparagus  She also likes fruit but I have no problem getting her to eat veges.

We started with veggies, too! I wanted to stay away from all sugars at first. I actually started dd on broccoli and spinich and had no problems...

Apple sauce with dd and just started bananas with ds because he has diarrhea all the time from his formula I was kinda hoping the bananas would help firm it up a bit!

Well we forgot to bring cereal the other night so I smushed up a banana at the restaurant. Isaac acted like he didn't really know what to think!
I used to babysit a 4.5 month old that only ever had the Custards or puddings. His mother never gave me any fruits or veges. So I would go and buy them. But he wouldn't eat them. He wouldn't even drink the baby fruit juice.

I alternate between fuits and vegetables, mixed with a bit of single grain oatmeal; I did applesauce first b/c it's what I had on hand, then started alternating each day between fruits and veg. My son liked everything he ever had; my daughter seems to like everything so far except peas, she spits and gurgles them a lot...

I give dd Quaker Oats 1-min Oatmeal for breakfast. She loves it. This might help, too!

We started DD on veggies first and then fruits. Each one from light colored foods to dark. We did the whole try each one three times to make sure no allergies and then move on to another. Now we have a easy time feeding her veggies....it's the fruits we have the problems with. Especially anything apple. But, she loves when I mix water with a bit of juice...go figure
