Every child is different so with that in mind I will say that some are under 2 when they potty train and others are closer to 3 or possibly 4. Mine were both 2 1/2 when they were fully potty trained. Stephanie

Dd is 3 years and 4 months and just in the last month has been nearly 100% about going potty - especially poop - in the toilet. Though she did pee in her bedroom the other day. I tell her I'm not mad, but remind her she's a big girl and needs to use the toilet. Then I make her clean it up herself ;)

I've been working on my dd. But boy is she stubborn! She's almost 3 and I still can only get her on the potty once or twice a day. At our daycare there is a 15 month old who goes on the potty more!
Both boys were fully potty trained (daytime) between 2yrs 8 months, and 2yrs 9 months.
Funny though. The eldest learned earlier by a couple of months, but took longer, like about 2-3 weeks. The younger learned a couple of months later, but was good in about 5 days!
I potty trained at 11 months. My mom said I hated hated hated dirty diapers so I would tap my diaper and lift my arms up (I didn't walk at that point) and they would take me to the potty and I'd go.
As for my boys, The oldest was 26 mo. The other 2 haven't trained yet - almost 4 and 15 mo. I think for each child and each circumstance it's different.

my son is 3 and will pee on the potty no problem, often he goes on his own, sometimes he needs some remionding from us. he WILL not poop on the potty. help !!!!! he is going tp pre kindergarten in the fall and needs to be able to go to the bathroom independently. he doesn't ask for a diaper we will poo in his underwear. he is not constipated and has no problems going. he just does not want to go on the potty.

Several people have posted about potty training under the Toddler /Presschool topics.
I started my dd at 22 months and we had a rough first week but then I reevaluated the training technique and once I switched she was about 80-85% in two days. And by the end of the month 100% during daytime and often dry during naps and night time. I think she would have been ready at 18 mo but I hit so much opposition I didn't try it.
I really think you have to know your child and what will work for them. Even at 22 months I got alot of guff for trying...people saying things like "Well if you want to be cleaning up messes for a year and a half, go ahead and try". I try very hard not to rub it in when they ask me how she is doing and I tell them we have been in big girl undies for over a month now with only 3 accidents. :D

I am betting it will be 3 for Justice. He is on the later side for doing things with the physical development. I was trained at age 3 and most of my nieces and nephews were too.

Kansasmom, I can relate with other people's comments. Mine wanted to use the potty for good out of the blue (at least it seemed that way to me) the week before her 2nd birthday, which was last week. People tell me that she must be doing it for fun and when it gets old, she'll stop. But, we went through the "fun" stage several months ago. This time she goes without my doing anything. And she'll tell me she has to go when we're out. So, it's not really training for her. She's very independent and has learned a lot on her own.

I started with dd #1 when she was about 2 1/2. She was completly trained by age 3. DD #2 started using the potty at around 18 months randomly. It was totally her choice, I wasn't even going to start with her until she turned 2. Anyway, she's 2 years, 1 mo. now and will go every now and then.
