Have you ever had the thought/mind set of "When I get through this, then I will be able to serve the Lord better." We tend to get tomorrow sort of fixed in our thinking since today is often so difficult. We wait for this mystery time when things will be better and I can really get with it:
When we get over this financial hump
When we move into a new house/city/state, etc.
When we find a new church
When we get through this crisis with our kids/inlaws/parents
When I feel better
Today is all I have. I posted a song in the Prayer section and one of the verses says: One step I see before me; that's all I need to see. This is true. Today is where I am living, where I can serve Him, be a blessing, let Christ live through me. I don't have to wait until I get through some difficult situation in my life because if I am His child, that difficult situation is from His hand. And He is always good. So, today, in my difficult situation I can serve Him. I can bless others. Abraham went out "not knowing whither". Maybe the whither hasn't been revealed to me, but I am to "go out". In my little circle, I can be what He has called me to be and if Christ is in me, I can help make it a little bit of Heaven on earth. :D
