Hi,
How early does the Cervix start to dialating?
I don't think my cervix dialated at all with my first 2 pregancy - hence 2x C-section.
I have been praying to go natuaral, and think my cervix has started to "go soft & flatten".
Now I know there is a few weeks to go (unfortuanatly in this HEAT 30deg or 88.2 F - still going up, only 10:30am ) anyway...
I just wondering... How early does this start - is it days or weeks before i will start getting the REAL contractions and labour begin - and how much longer will i have to carry in this HEAT ! :)

PS Please pray with me for a natural birth. my doctor does not want to risk a VBa2C - and is going to schedual me for a C-section. I pray that baby starts to arrive before that date, and by the time doctor gets to the hospital, baby will be already there - HEALTHY & ALIVE !

thanks.

I'm praying for a vbac for ya. And an easy delivery. I too would go for a vbac with my next one. About the cervix dilating, I aint got a clue. I was 1 cm dilated for 2 weeks before Abby was born. Sorry I'm not much help in that area. :D

will pray for vbac!!!!!! BUT GRRRRRRR I'll switch locations with you. I'll come enjoy the heat and you can stay inside to avoid the near frostbite temps here in maine=( To hear that are some places that are still warm makes me want to cry, so I have to go now=(. . .

oh, and I think you CAN start to dialate weeks before had. It might be a slow process- it was for me. YAY! for MAB!!!

With my DS at my 37 week visit I hadn't dialated at all. Started having contractions at 1am at 38 wks 1 day. Got to L&D at 7:50, fully dialated. Had him at 8:46, no drugs cause there wasn't all that much pain with it. Mainly discomfort and pressure. Pushed 3 times and he slid right out. Easy, easy, easy. Pray it's the same this time around.
Just depends on your body and the baby I suppose.

I started dilating at 35 weeks. Walked in for the 36 week appt. and was at one cm. Then, went a cm. a week nearly. However, the mw decided to induce me at just about 41 weeks (according to her due date, not the one I figured, I am pretty sure I was right, so it was only one day late for my calculations) and I was about five cm dilated.

Another five weeks at the rate I was going and she would have fallen out!

I have heard that subsequent babies start to dilate later and all that. I don't know. Guess we are all just different.

If you want a natural birth, definitely wait to go to the hospital as long as you can. Either that or find a different doctor or a midwife who supports VBAC. I know of a woman who had a homebirth after two c-sections! You can do it!

Thank you ladies for your support, encouragement & prayers.

It is a bit of a challenge, but I am putting my faith & trust in the Lord on this one.

Because I picked up a horrible fatal virus last time (nothing to do with the pregnancy or birth - but it effected everything) everyone is now so extra caution around me, and would prefer a c-section instead of natural. It was not the vbac that gave me the infection, and I am in better condition this time round than last time.

Anyway,
with God, ALL things ARE possible.
I just cannot thank you enough for your prayers & support.
Will keep you posted... :)
