Okay, that was an exaggeration. But Michigan feels like the arctic circle sometime, especially since I lived in Florida for the better part of three years.
When I'm out and about with my baby and she needs changing when we're in the car, I lay her down on the seat and change her. Except with me bending over from outside the car the wind whips in and hits her legs. I don't think that she likes that or that it's the healthiest for her.
How do you moms from cold climates change diapers in the car without freezing your baby?

squeeze in and close the doors w/ the car running. I did that once. Not cool.
You could also try getting baby legs, which are leg warmers, so you can change the diaper while her legs won't be bare b/c her pants are gone

Or, go inside somewhere. Usually the places with the cleanest bathrooms with a change table will be chain bookstores or stores like that, where bathrooms aren't frequently used. Restaurants and wal-mart are the worst, in my experience.
I have not changed her diaper in the car since it got to be winter. I change right before we leave, and usually she is OK until we get somewhere in the city with a change table. so that's about 2 hours in the car w/o a change. I just hope she doesn't poop while we're on the road. LOL

Ditto Cheesy :)
I change immediately before leaving, change in warm, closed vehicle when possible. Otherwise I look for the 'clean' places to change when we're actually out and about.
Oh and those baby legs things are oh too cute! And you can make some yourself ;) Get some cute little socks...folks have used 'toe socks' found on sale for dirt cheap...cut off the toe area then you can hem it up and/or add a little ruffle of lace, or whatever.

She probably isn't too big to change on your lap. If you have a skirt on this works especially well. Just sit down in the car spread your legs apart and lay her on your lap and change her. This has worked really well for me.

Wow, HOW would you change a baby on your legs?? seriously? if she has a major blowout i have trouble not getting poop everywhere if she's lying flat, much less if she's lying across my lap!!
Jen must be supermom or something LOL

LOL
I've changed many a diaper on my lap ;)
Though, those explosions, uh, those no worky LOL
I always try to change indoors when it's cold - right before we leave, right when we get home, or in a restroom - I like the handicap stalls... they are big :)
If I needed to do outdoors, when they were small, lap on front passenger seat worked alright. I always carried a changing pad! I needed a barrier, LOL.
When they get big I just try to hurry as fast as I can go. If I have someone with me, I ask them to hold a fleece blanket as a wind barrier.

It hasn't actually gotten cold here until this week, but I am fortunate to have a really big vehicle that I am able to crawl in the back to do changes. I have also done many lap changes... !
