Okay ladies - I am just curious as to how many of us out there grew up in church and accepted Christ as children or became Christians as adults.
I grew up as a Southern Baptist minister daughter (not all the preacher daughter stories are true that you hear!). I realized I was a sinner and accepted Christ and was Baptized at age 9. I did have a period of rebellion during my late teens and early twenties, but have since rededicated my life to serving Christ.
Looking forward to hearing when you became Christians.
I became a "believer" at age five; my parents were very active in our overseas church and I grew up in the church, basically. I, too, had my years of rebellion but, came back to what i knew to be true and good. So, let's see, I've been a Born Again, Christian for 20 years!

I committed my life to Christ & was born-again when I was 23 years old. I was not raised in a Christian home...in fact, I was raised in a 'gay home'...I did accept Christ when I was 17yrs old at a friend's I was visiting out of town but when I got home...I was made fun of & not encouraged so the 'seed' never took root!!! I led a life of continued rebellion & so forth until 23...but that's when I 'fell in love' w/ Jesus & committed my life to him so that's when I became a Christian in my eyes!!! PTL!!!

Wow! I love to see how God works in our lives! Seeing everyones answers has been such a blessing to me. It encourages me that God will work on people for as long as it takes. Some of us see it as children, some of us aren't privileged to be raised by Christian parents, and some of us were but ignored Christ until we were older.
This has really renewed my faith that God can still reach some of the people I know who are living for themselves rather than him! Thanks ladies. You've been great!

SupermansLady....I love your screenname....I could fit that name!
I was baptized as a small child in a Free Will Baptist Church, but I rededicated myself as a teen while visiting my father and going to church with him in Alabama. I was baptized in a Southern Baptist Church, by choice, at that time.
I have since fallen, and been helped up, and slid backwards, and been uplifted again by God many times....THANKFULLY!

I was raised in the chuch, but I didn't "get it all" either, and turned my back on Him when I was 17-21, then God called me to be His Child, and I have since learned what is is to be His.
I accepted Christ when I was 8. But just about three years ago I started really understanding what being a christian really means and have been living in His truth, wisdom, grace and joy ever since.
Ditto on Him not giving up on me. He is my sheperd looking for me when I was lost.

Grew up in a Christian environment, said the salvation prayer at an early age, but never understood what a relationship with Christ was/is until after making LOTS of mistakes, trying to do life on my own, and falling on my face several times. Finally came to a complete relationship in 1993. PTL!!! \O/
edited to add: but still manage to fall on my face occasionally...difference is, now I accept the grace that God gives and pick myself up and try to grow through it. ;)

You are most welcome my sister! :) Felt a little "nudge" from the Spirit after posting, so I added that edit. Maybe just what he wanted you to hear this morning. :) Isn't God so awesome like that? ;)

I was saved at age 8. I did not grow up in a Christian home though...so I never really understood what a "personal" relationship with Jesus Christ was until my twenties. PRAISE GOD, I do now!!!!! :D

I was saved and baptized at age 10. I always knew the Lord, but refused to be part of what He had for me throughout my late teen years until a little over a year ago. My marriage was falling apart and I was partying a lot and doing a lot of other things I shouldn't have been doing, I left my husband and kids, but PRAISE GOD He never gave me the peace I was looking for until during the (5 day) separation, my husband invited me down for dinner, and the only place I felt peace was at my home with my husband and two children, I came for dinner and never left again.
HE has a plan for all those who seek HIM first. HE saved my marriage, but HE also saved my life, because I don't know where that road of searching would have led me. Two months after getting back with my husband I found out I was pregnant, very unexpected, not sure I wanted another child, but GOD knows what HE is doing, this third child has blessed me in ways I can't even begin to explain, She completed me, and makes me a better mommy to my other two children. HE IS SO AMAZING!! HE LOVES US EVEN WHEN WE CHOOSE NOT TO LOVE HIM. HOW AMAZING IS THAT? THANK GOD FOR HIS GRACE. I DO. :)

Thank you for your testimonials... they were so personal...
I was born to an orthodox Catholic family and I had my years of rebellion(sp?) when I was a kid. But in general it was my way of life from the very beginning.

I accepted Jesus as my personal savior when I was 14 years old. I did not grow up in a Christian home, I started to attend church on my own. My parents always supported my choices though. I attended church all throughout high school. As a young adult, I started to fall away a bit. There was stuff happening in my church that was very hypocritical and I did not agree with. There was a huge blow out, where my family, who by then had all accepted Jesus and been baptized, were very hurt and wronged. I questioned everything for years, searching for "something" to fill that void I had. Around 3 years ago, I started to attend a different church and knew the moment I walked in I was home. I re-dedicated my life to Christ.
Unfortuantly, my home church is going through a tough time right now, similar to what happened at my old church and it has been very tough on me. I've been more directly invovled in this and have been hurt greatly. I've been attending elsewhere right now and miss my church family greatly. I am not sure where God is leading me at this point in my life and I just feel so lost.
theclarksgirl,
Praying for you and your church home!!!!!!!!!! [prayer]

I was raised Catholic. When I was 26 and my husband was ready to leave we were married 4 years at the time. Our lives were a mess.Jesus came and lifted me up. I gave my life to Him, my husband after a really hard couple of years also gave his life to Jesus. We now have been married 26 years and are serving Him together. We attend a non-denominational church.

I was 13 when a friend brought me to youth group. Went on a camp and could not take my eyes off this guy who was leading worship. He just had this thing about him that he was so passionate about and he seemed to melt into the worship when he was singing. I knew there was something different so I asked him and he said it was his love for God - so I became a Christian! to this day we are still great friends! I must say that although I truely believe I gave my heart to God then - I didn't give Him EVERYTHING until I was 17 and at a Christian Performing Arts school and He challenged me on it. So hmm I have known my Jesus for 8 years this September 12th!
Just thought I'd quickly share my DH testimony too cos it's really cool! I started dating him when he wasn't a Christian (I know I know but he was seeking so I compromised!). He always asked lots of questions about God and I gave him his first bible our first Christmas. He then went off to University near the middle of the South Island (of New Zealand where we live) and I went to Performing Arts school at the top of the North Island! We talked everyday on MSN Messenger and one night after lots of talking and discussing he said "I've read most of the bible, I've been to church with you, I've been to Christian kids camp leading with you, I've attended conferences with you. I think God is real but there's still something missing". Well God came on me something awesome because I just replied "The only thing missing is a relationship with Jesus Christ" He broke down (over the internet!) and cried and then said "show me how" so I led him through a basic sinners prayer off the top on my head and the Holy Spirit was with him so strongly he just kept crying and praising God and writing the most amazing love notes to God on the MSN!!! Holy Spirit was totally with me too and I was doing the same. He was absolutely amazed that we could both be experiencing God's Spirit at the same time!
God is so good! All the time He is good! Praise Him! Praise Him!
Wow God is with me know reminding me of this time and I am almost crying!
Lord I pray for Amber and Noah!!! Be with them right now Lord! Reach out to everyone of this amazing ladies where they are right now Lord and touch their hearts! Let them know that You absolutely love them and want to know them even deeper!
AMEN!!!! :D

At age 21 after years of being a runaway, homeless and living on the streets of Seattle in defilement the Lord saved me.
I'm now 37 years old and the Lord has done a miracle on me in such a short time.

I was 18 but after I accepted Christ I didnt have any one in my life to help me to grow, and I didnt know where to start with finding a church. It wasnt until I was 21 that I really "got it" either. I am so blessed to have met my DH and he has been so important to my walk with Christ! Oh...Was not raised in a christian home at all. My mother got saved when I was 16 but I wasnt ready to hear it yet I guess...So 5 years for me and I still feel like a "new Christian" because It wasnt until 2 years ago that I really started to change and grow!

I was very young (not sure when) but I fell away in my teenage years. I rededicated my life my junior year of college and met dh. I feel like I am constantly asking Christ into my heart and to take the reigns of my life away from me and to remind me that he is in control. God's grace is so good!

I was 15 y/o My faith started to get shaky after I had my first miscarriage after the first year dh got married. The pastor and other friends made it seem like it was nothing. I felt angry at God and sort of turned my back even though I continued going to church. Then when I had my ds (3 yrs later) I praised God for letting me have a baby.

I lived in a tiny town and walked up to the Methodist church by myself started about age 5. I even went during the summer for VBS. Eventually I switched to a Church of Christ and the youth leader that lived in town took me to and from. I went to church camp and stopped going to church in HS. I actaully wanted to get saved when I was 13 and both my pastor and my mom said I wasn't ready. That's another whole topic but I disagree with that. Anyway I went about my life and did everything I could possibly do. You know drinking, smoking pot and of course sex. I met my husband and we moved in together. We were together for 10 months and found out we were expecting Emily. We got married 6 days before she was born. I got saved at age 25 which was 1 1/2 years after she was born. Been living my life for the Lord ever since! That's a short version of my life, much more to that, not good things either but God made them good and took it all away.
I love the Lord and glad to b e here! [crossheld]

I so like to read how Jesus leads people to Himself and they find Him... [crossandheart]
I was just almost 20...and it's a long story. Suffice it to say that in saving me Jesus saved my life, too.
I was 12. My parents both believed in God, although we didn't faithfully go to church.
