Hannah's so close. She's hollering things that remotely resemble "mama" and "dadda." She's five months old now.

So when did your baby say his/her first word and what word was it?

katherine started saying "mama" around 5-6 months. Only when she was upset. now she says it on a regular basis even if she's not crying LOL

She hasn't said dada yet unless the "SQUEEEEE" she makes when she sees her dad is her word for dad :roll: LOL she's almost 8 months.

Abby said Dada between 5-6months, and mama wasn't far behind. Now, about all she says is Mama and Baba. Don't know what happened to dada :(

Yeah, that's when I usually hear something that sounds like "mama" is when she's crying for me. So maybe that's it!

Ruth, I would say it is her saying it! When Abby first said mama, we were in the car and she was crying and wailed "mama" and I thought to myself, "did she just say mama or was that her just making noise". But from then on out she kept saying it.

Tory started saying "Mama" at five months, and I know that she knew it was me because she would only say it when she was looking directly at me or when DH was holding her but she was reaching for me. Then, she learned how to say "Dada", and she started calling me *that*!

Ani did dada at around 5-6 months. And Teo did mama around the same time. :D

I kind of guessed at Emma's age when she first said her words. Her first word was "baby!" LOL! She still says it more than anything else. She said "dada" first, but I was blessed with her saying "mama" on Easter...such a blessing!!!

I really need to vote twice...two bebes. Hehe. I voted 3-4 months because Gracie was right at four months when she said "mama" for the first time. We were on a trip and she just got frustrated (looong trip) enough to say it. It was so darling! DS was about 5 or 6 months old when he said his first word. Now he can say probably 50 words. He's 15 months old.

That's exactly how it happened with us too! :)

I put 5-6 months...because that's when I was willing to say that she actually said it...I was in denial because I didn't want to sound stupid!
