I thought it might be fun, and possibly good for a laugh if we had a thread to discuss our slightly odd food cravings. I keep grossing out my poor husband with thoughts of what sounds good to me right now, and I figured there may be some comiseration with other preggos.

Here's mine: for a few days, I wanted a snickers bar and cottage cheese. Together at the same time. Like chop up the snickers and mix it with the cottage cheese. I haven't had the guts to do that one yet. And everytime I mention it, Hubby gags. I have also insisted on drinking limeade with nearly everything, including chocolate (and the limeade I get is sour!) I think it is great. Hubby, not so much (boy is he missing out.) I have wanted nothing but supreme pizza for a week before and cried over not having any pepperoni. Right now, I am fighting a craving for pickle wheels. You take dill pickles, coat them in a thick layer of cream cheese and then wrap some thin sliced deli ham around that and then cut them in slices. (that is a family party staple where I come from). I know, the deli meat is a bad idea, but it sounds so good right now. Along with limeade.

So, anyone else? I can't be the only person with the strange cravings [pregnantpatbelly]

Ok the cottage cheese and snickers is making my stomach turn [whatwacko] . That is so funny though!!! When I was pregnant with my daughter I wanted liver all of the time. With my son I wanted jalapenos all of the time--the hotter the better! The thing is with being pregnant that it is all you can think about until you get what you are craving. Isn't that funny? I'm not pregnant but am craving Mexican right now. We may have to eat Mexican tomorrow after church and then take a big seista!! Yum! Stephanie

I mostly crave strange combinations. Like one morning, I think that I had fried vegetarian hot dogs with tomato sauce and had cereal and soymilk as well. Go figure! My husband is smart, he doesn't ask questions, he just eats. LOL. :)

I grossed my hubby out when I was preg with out little boy with the craving of chicken smothered in smuckers grape jelly! You should have seen my face as he served it to me! Got to love those hang in there in the bad times guys! LOL
I also couldn't get enough burrito supremes from Taco Bell! Poor guy made a run for one every night on the way home from work...and it wasn't on the way! :D

Hotdogs. Cheese hotdogs. I can't get enough of them!

It doesn't beat the Snickers n' Cottage Cheese dish , but it's weird for me to want hotdogs all the time.

I am cycling really quickly through my cravings. But currently eggrolls and brownies are the thing. And if I could get them on the same plate that would be great. Also I am in a Limeade rut right now too. To be specific soft frozen limeade from Minute Maid. There's some in my freezer right now.

I will update when a new craving hits me. My husband has been marveling at the speed in which my cravings switch. With my ds it was pretty much avocados, rootbeer, and pepsi the entire time.

And thanks to Crystal pickle wheels mya soon be in my future  .

You're welcome. Pickle wheels are great. And no, I haven't caved to that craving yet. I keep telling myself the lunchmeat isn't a good idea. However, I think I will be giving in to it after I get my last paycheck from my previous place of employment on Friday. I will have to eat those away from my husband though. He nearly threw up the other night when I just had to have a pickle in a pouch. It was soooooo good though.

Have you tried the limeaide from wal-mart brand? If you don't put as much water in it as it says to, it is pretty good. I like mine a little sour. Ok, a lot sour right now. Before I was preg. I loved the premade minute maid stuff. However, it is too sweet right now.

Happy eating!

I have wanted pumpkin a lot but I think I am over that.

Funnily enough I just had a craving for spinach and ricotta LOL.

Meat and steak a lot and yet I am not iron deficient (I just had it checked). But it sounds like my body is saying "eat lots of iron rich foods"

Curry and spices too... can't get enough of spices!

Today's cravings. Nutella and corn. [whatscratchinghead]

Nutella and corn, together? Just checking.....

I made chicken last night cooked in salsa in the crock pot. Shredded it and served it on soft tacos with shredded cheese. It was amazing. I had to have lemonade with it too. Then, I got done eating that and I wanted the left-over pizza from the night before, but hubby had eaten them for lunch and I didn't know about it! He told me he had no sympathy for me when the heartburn was to strike from all the hot stuff and acidic stuff I ate. And that I didn't need to eat the pizza because of the pepperoni and that causes me to get heartburn too.

I have no idea what I want to fix for dinner yet. Think it is going to be eggs and spam.

With my first I wanted peanuts. Peanuts in the shell that you have to crack. We went through a bunch of those little bags of them until Ja finally brought home a ten pound bag!

Sadly, the craving was over the next day. The poor guy had to eat a lot of peanuts!

Right now? Cheese. and nachos. mmmmmmm......... and I ditto the ice cold milk too.

Also? The snickers and cottage cheese does not sound bad to me...

The snicker and cottage cheese idea hasn't been that appealing since I first wanted it. Oh well, maybe it will come back.

I just had to get blueberry bagels and strawberry cream cheese tonight. I am waiting a little for dinner to settle before I have some. I have always loved that combination.

I also want a grape Nehi. Only a grape Nehi. I hate all other grape pop. However, no one around here sells a Nehi in any form. There is a store close to my parent's that has every kind of pop imaginable. They specialize in different kinds of root beers and they have about a hundred different varieties of root beer on average. I love going there! However, it is eight hours away, I am not working at the moment so we are poorer than usual and at the price of gas anyhow....

Nutella was my breakfast craving and corn my afternoon snack. I don't think I am quite up to mixing the two. But I do have 3 months left...

In general the eggrolls are still ruling supreme in my longings. I can't leave the gracery store with out buying some from the chinese restraunt in the store. Just a whiff of chinese food sends me into bliss. [rotfl]

At very first I wanted Salty Chips (as in fat fries that go with fish and chips) and CC corn chips...

I don't think I have had any weird fetishes though but I certainly am HUNGRY.....

Do you get take away fish and chips in America?

Crissyanna

No take away fish and chips around here (though, there is a fast food restaraunt called Long John Silver's that is mainly seafood, but I cant' eat it due to preservatives, so I don't know how good it is). Maybe there is some real fish and chips out on the coast. We can get deli fried chicken though (but I normally hate it). The rotissere chicken at Wal-Mart isn't too bad. Just have to get it when it is fresh.

HA it is 3.30am in and I am sitting up in the wee dark hours with a bowl of 2 minute noodles I was craving.

Very clandestine, cravings lit by the glow of my PC.

For breakfast I had a scrambled egg sandwhich on pancakes with american and cream cheese and then I dipped it in applesauce. It was very good. Hubby had a scarmbled egg sandwhich on pancakes too, only he just used american cheese and then put maple syrup on top, kind of like a McGriddle at McDonald's. He bravely took a bite of mine saying that curiosity killed the cat. He chewed, swallowed and then told me that, the cat was now dead. I thought it was a great combo!

Hope you all are eating well today!

I thought we weren't allowed to eat Cream Cheese? To me it seems a bit silly since the stuff you buy in a jar is so processed I just can't imagine anything let alone harmful bacteria could survive LOL!

My package of cream cheese says it is pasturized, so I will eat it. If they try to take that away from me, I don't know what I'll do. If they take away my cream cheese, then no cheesecake [crytantrum] . I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't eat that on occasion.

Though, I should be cutting out some of the cheese anyway. I have the nasty clogging side effect of pregnancy and I am getting miserable, again. Nothing the midwife has suggested has worked. I am begining to wonder if I am just totally whacked internally, or if she got her degree from the back of a cereal box.
