I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for fiction books (or nonfiction, true story type books) for girls about age 10/11. There isnt much of a selection at the local library. Im thinking mostly stuff thats strictly christian... Not opposed to nonchristian but its gotta be wholesome.

Catherine Marshall has some good books out. Might be a little advanced, but could check and see if they have some for younger readers. Janette Oke if you like love stories. Frank Peretti has some young readers novels if you like suspense (I love Frank Peretti!). There's the Cul-de-Sac kids. That's all I can think of right now.

Beverly Lewis has several series of books for pre-teens and teens, all are Christian and wholesome. My 13 and 12yo dds enjoy them. Here's a link to her website, which lists the series. One, the Summerhill series, is like her adult books and set in the Amish and Mennonite communities. The Holly's Heart ones are not.

There is some mention of romance and dating as the series progress, as the characters start off at about 13 or so and end up at 17ish. We found it age appropriate and the strong Christian faith and values of the characters was evident throughout the stories.

When I was that age I really liked to read the "Mandie" series. I can't remember who wrote them but they were christian and had lots of adventure. It has been long time since I have read them and are not sure they are still around but they were really good.

Ok I just ordered some books. I ordered the vol 1 of the summerhill series by beverly lewis as well as some 'Here's Lilly' Books. I cant remember which ones tho, lol. They were: 'The It's My Life Book: It's a God Thing!' and "Lily the Rebel (Young Women of Faith) (Lily Series)"

I kinda bought them on a whim... I hope it doesnt skint us out!! lol.
