Yesterday evening I noticed that Rhiana has a rash on her bum. It is hurting her which means that she doesn't want to sit on the potty. I was wondering if it was because we are putting her on the potty so much, or I was also wondering if could be from her panties, either the elastic or the fabric. Is that possible? Today I noticed that the rash was moving to the front too. So I plan to get some zincofax later today or tomorrow (depending on the weather). Rhiana is fighting when she needs to sit on the potty becasue it hurts. So has anyone else seen this shortly after starting potty training? Other then the zincofax, is there something else I can try to help with her pain and discomfort? Oh and she has started scratching herself.

I've seen it before with kids who aren't wiping correctly pr some moisture is left after going. My oldest gets a rash from time to time and we are always on her to wipe front to back. I'd let her get some air circulating in the area.

Could it be the detergent or fabric softener you are using? Until now, that area of her body hasn't been exposed to it (if you used disposable diapers). I had something similar happen to me when I tried downey fabric softener a few months ago. Ended up with hives and my face swelling so bad I couldn't open my eyes all the way after rubbing my face with a towel that had it on.

Just the first thought that came to mind there for you.

could it be yeast?

That is really strange - because my dd has a rash on her bottom that started as soon as we started the toilet training. It doesn't seem to be spreading or getting worse though - and doesn't seem to be bothering her. I was thinking that it could be something to do with the fabric of the underware or detergent used to wash the underware. My dd has fairly sensitive skin.

yeah it could be your washing powder but also what are you washing the potty out with, cos that is coming into contact with her bum, just a thought cos that happened with my dd.
