Just wondering if anyone here is pregnant with Twins. I went for my first visit last week, and my OB says upon exam, I seem a bit larger than my calculations. I am fairly positive that I am accurate, but my DH has a history of twins in his family...
I go this Friday for another appointment since they couldn't hear heartbeat at last visit. (I'm rather large and it was still a bit early to hear with the doppler if my dates are correct.) Anyway, the thought of twins is lingering in our mind and just wondered how soon others found out if they were having 2 rather than 1.
TIA
I actually prayed my heart out for twins, and DH prayed with me; it was amazing when, at nine weeks, i went in for my routine ultrasound to establish my due date, and there they were!!! I was moved beyond words and TEARS!
I have learned so much about twins by being pregnant with them, (I am an info nut), for instance; the gene for twins is carried on the maternal side (yours), not paternal (his). In my case, it was pure miracle! We do not have them in our family and it was just a complete miracle, I don't care what anybody says! :)
That whole pregnancy was just so blessed; I carried my twin girls to 35 weeks and had a very successful vaginal (and drug FREE) birth!! I was thrilled! They had NO time in the NICU and they both latched on beautifully and immediately! God is the God of miracles and I have certainly had my share of them! We are so thankful! If you have any questions or anything, PM me!
By the way, I was NOT measuring too big, she said I did feel a little large but since it was by far not my first pregnancy, she wasn't surprised, and certainly wasn't expecting twins! :)

Wow! What a blessing twins would be! More heart to love!!! Just FYI, I am way overweight, and we heard DD's h/b at just over 9 weeks, but with DS (this pg) we didn't get to hear him until I was like 13 or so because I have an anterior placenta (in the front), and even when we listen to it now it's still someone hard to find and can be softer.....
How far along will you be when you have your next apt? Please keep us updated!!

I found out I was having twins when I had an ultrasound at 11 weeks.
People had commented that I seemed to already be showing a lot, but I assumed it was because it was my second pregnancy, so some women show sooner. I actually had a dream early in the pregnancy that I was going to have twins, but never put any stock into it. I was SHOCKED- Twins don't run in my family, and I just never imagined myself as a twin mommy.
I carried my boys to 36 weeks- they were 6 lbs., 1 oz., and 6 lbs., 12 oz.
I ended up with a C-section at the last minute- one baby was coming face-up, and the other was breech.
My boys have been really healthy and happy- no twin horror stories! It's such a special blessing to watch them together and see their special bond.
DH and I always wanted children- so if God decides to send them two at a time, we'll take it!

Well, I'll be 10wks 3days at my next appointment. So, that should be far enough along to hear heartbeats. Thanks for all the info! I always wondered if that "runs in the family" thing really was true. It's cool to know it would be on my side not his if it did.
I knew too that I would measure a little larger due to the previous pregnancy, but she really seemed to be raising her eyebrows at me....so  who knows?! I have already packed on 15 pounds in 2 months and I have been eating super healthy. Had to break out maternity clothes over the weekend because none of my pants would button or zip anymore.
My husband told me the day after this baby was conceived that I was pregnant, and we weren't trying! He made me test once a week until at a little less than 5wks I got a positive. He has also said that I was having twins from day one...I sort of hope that is some sort of discernment on his part, but financially...OH BOY!!!
We have no health insurance and I make too much to be eligible for our state assistance program, so, monetarily one would be more than enough, but whatever and however many God blesses us with, we will both be happy. Thanks for all the info! I look forward to getting to know all of you guys!
That is exactly what happened to me. at one of my initial visits dr was listening for a heart beat and feeling around and she said I felt a bit too big to be how far along they thought I was. I couldnt afford an ultra sound but she made an appointment anyway later on at about five months. I was huge and I knew the ultra sound was going to say we were having twins. dh was still surprised when the technition said 'Ive got a surprise for you'. I had twin girls at 38 weeks weight just over 6lbs each. Ive had a singleton since as well. cant wait to hear after your next ultra sound!
I don't have twins but, I wanted to say CONGRATS!!!!!! You are twiced blessed!!! I will keep you in my prayers!!

Just wanted to let everyone know that I received good and somewhat sad news at my OB appointment last Friday.
We did an ultrasound and have 1 very healthy and active baby in there! "She" (we hope) was waving arms and legs like crazy. Sadly though, we do have a second gestational sak that is empty. So, according to my OB and the ultrasound tech that did the scan, the bleeding and cramping I had around my 8th week was probably me miscarrying that baby.
Sad though that may be, we are both very happy and feel very blessed to have seen the one little miracle we have living in me. So - no twins, but one very happy and healthy baby that we pray will continue to stay healthy!
Thanks for your prayers and encouragement!

I'm sorry to hear that the other one didn't make it though. :(
I'm truly sorry for your loss but, so extremely happy for you that you have a happy, healthy baby coming! :) Congratulations yet again! I hope *she* is a very calm, happy baby and that you have a trouble free pregnancy! :)

Thank you for your encouraging words! :D We are both excited about this wonderful addition to our large family. We do hope it's a "she" but will be just as excited if it is a "he". Might have trouble coming up with another boy name since we already have 5...
Anyway - thanks again. I am so blessed to have you ladies to share this exciting and sometimes trying time with.
