WOW! I have *never* seen a breech birth before! That was AWESOME! I have always been so afraid of a breech baby, just because we are bombarder by medical people telling us that this kind of birth is impossible. You would think it would be even "safer" in a hospital, with an OB, where they could do an emergency operation... but it isn't even attempted, thought of or anything remotely like that. I think most women would be thought of as irresponsible if they attempted a breech birth. How sad......

Because many women were/are going to birth centers and having breech homebirths here in Portland, the hospital I work at is looking into reinstating breech birth here with a doctor attending because they finally figured out that women want to have a choice...they don't want to be scared into something that can be fine. Of course they are making very limiting policies, BUT any woman can refuse to be operated on. It may be a risk, but parents need to make that educated decision, not a doctor afraid of malpractice. (what is a hospital going to do, kick a woman out of a hospital with a baby birthing from her vagina because it's breech, or sedate her against her will? They can't do that, no matter what they say!)

My mom was a breech, vag birth. Non-induced too (from what I've read, if you are going to vag a breech, you can't induce with good results normally, and most obs from what I've read say you have to to control it, and around here, pretty much, they'll let you "try" it induced but will push for a c due to convience). In fact, my mom was nearly born in the hallway on the way to the delivery room (she was also like four weeks early...) Totally doable. Be educated and do what is best for you and the baby.
