The past week I've been waking up around two or three and can't go back to sleep. If I lay there long enough, I doze back off around six only to have to get up soon. It's pretty frustrating, as you can imagine. ::snort::

Anybody else familiar with pregnancy fatigue? What helped you get through it? did you find something that actually helped you sleep better?

I've had insomnia BAD lately :( I'll lay there for hours upon hours and, like you, doze off only to have to be up shortly after. Makes for long days!! I haven't found anything that helps yet either. [whatwacko]

I got it late second trimester with both the girls. Sometimes I'd lay there all night and not sleep. Couldn't get comfy, got heartburn, mind wouldn't stop and I just couldn't go to sleep no matter where I was. It wasn't so bad with the eldest, but then, when I had her to take care of while preggo with the little one, oy.

Sometimes, a hot cup of Celestial Seasoning's Sweet Dreams tea, a warm bath, and then toast with honey (carbs raise melatonin levels, and toast with honey does it when I'm not preggo) and then tucked in to bed. However, I learned, I couldn't watch any movie with any major plot twists, horror or anything, and I could only read books on birth or fluff stuff. I tried reading the Green Mile while preggo with eldest. Bad choice. Very bad choice. It was during the insomniac period too. When I was able to doze off, the dreams were strange and weirder than my normal preggo dreams. My MIL also sent me out vanilla lavender aroma therapy stuff she found. Lotion and linen spray. It helped a bit. I still use it because I LOVE the scent of it. I think it was from Bath and Body Works, came in royal blue bottles. I don't know if they still make it as I don't normally go in there (too overwhelming smell wise and I get a headache) and I got it two years ago now.

Eventually the insomnia passes. Then, you are up with a baby...

I sometimes get that way near the end. If I really can't sleep, I'll usually pull out a book (typically fluff reading) and that sometimes helps.

I had the exact same thing; waking up at around two or three and not falling back asleep until around six. Same thing! I never found a solution, I'm afraid. I just made the most of my time awake and napped during the day.

Interestingly enough, in the last few years, due to hormone shifts, I have that problem again (just exactly like you describe it) around PMS time (a few days before my period). I take Melatonin, and that helps me transition back into sleep pretty quickly, unless I get out of bed and find something more interesting to do than sleep. Been really working on not doing that, though.

I have it too! Never ever have I had any trouble sleeping, not during any of the other 4 pregnancies. I mean of course I had times when I lacked sleep for other reasons, waking toddler, nursing baby, but I've never dealt with insomnia before. It stinks!! I feel like I can't get into a deep sleep.. I'm always just on the edge of sleep/awareness. Then I will wake up at odd hours of the night and start thinking of the silliest things, like how I need to get the kids eating more veggies or something, and I'll lye awake thinking about this for hours. [whatwacko] I try NOT to think at all but it's like I just can't help it! It seems like I've been getting every dreaded pregnancy symptom this pg. Heartburn, nose bleeds, insomnia, the works!

Oh my... that's the WORST! I found I was waking up and my mind just was non stop thinking about everything you could ever think of. Like seriously the most dumb things. I remember stressing out so much and wondering how our new cloth diapers were going to fit our newborn. I couldn't get it out of my head for almost 3 hours! What in the world?!
I would also just lie there and think about everything I wanted to get done in my house to reorganize. I had a pad of paper on my side table to write things down and get it OUT of my head... sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't!
Are you thinking about anything Jen?
Oh the joys of pregnancy and sleep (or lack thereof!) I would always just think that it was God's way of easing us into the sleepless nights with a newborn.

I'm the same way, thoughts just flood through my mind. The past few days, my packing list, meal list, and "needs" list has been going through my mind. Pretty much all the planning that takes place in the last few weeks has been flooding my mind at two and three AM. Goooooooooooood times. :) And I totally agree, this is just God's way of prep-ing us for life with a newborn. ::snort::

Oh NO! I'm doing the exact same thing in the middle of the night and I'm only 12 weeks! :(
