View Full Version : Fetal Diagnostic Testing
Israel 12-15-2009, 12:07 PM Has anyone had a Fetal Diagnostic done? This is where they use the combination of blood tests and U/S to find any chance of abnormalties. I believe the U/S is done to measure the amount of fluid behind the babies neck (done in the 11-12 weeks gest period). Since I refused to have the amnio or the villi testing done (cause of miscarriage or deformity risk) I have one of these scheduled for tomorrow. SOOO, naturally I'm nervouse about them finding anything wrong with baby.
Please pray for my nerves and for a healthy baby. Thanks faithful friends!
plaid 12-15-2009, 01:56 PM I had one this last pregnancy. I was really thankful for that u/s. Will pray for you and your little one. :-D For me they did blood work and the u/s, with the nuchal fold measurement. The technician was really awesome and explained alot as she went. I did get some really sweet pictures and it was so nice to see the baby. I had a consult with a Dr right after and she explained the numbers and chances. Praying [hug]
I haven't had it, but I'll be praying for you, hun! :) ::hugs::
4HisGlory 12-15-2009, 07:49 PM praying for you! Just keep telling yourself while you are laying there that God has a purpose for all things and he loves you, your family and this baby so much that no matter what the outcome is, it WILL be PERFECT for you. God has it covered, and your sisters will be praying for your nerves and a healthy little one.
Israel 12-15-2009, 08:15 PM Thank you so much sweet gals for your knowledge, prayers, and encouragement! I needed it! I'll let you all know as soon as I get results.
Much love,

leona 12-16-2009, 07:12 AM sorry hun , just seen this thinking of you and praying all is well.
Israel 12-18-2009, 04:47 AM Thanks again for the prayers, girls. On Wednesday, I had the U/S to measure the fluid behind babies neck and it was normal. The next step is waiting for the blood results that take 5 weeks. In five weeks, I will have another diagnostic with U/S and they will combine the results from all tests. This is so much better than the thought of having an amnio and this testing is 92% accurate at detecting any abnormalties. I'll keep y'all posted.
Praise God for the good news on that ultrasound, eh?! I'm so happy! Thank you so much for the update! Praying and praising with you, hun~ ::hugs::

PS 6/30 was my sons edd last year he of course waited a extra week :)
buttercup_97140 12-19-2009, 12:58 AM This is the test we were at when we found Noah, our son's defects. It's amazing that a little guy (13weeks3days) is already perfectly formed that they can find abnormalities. I think this test is a good alternative to the amnio.
I pray all turns out well!
blessings,
Amber
