Since many of us seem to be in the midst of potty training I thought it might be nice to have a thread where we can share potty training mishaps or potty training funnies, since we all know there are plenty of them.

Here are two of our mishaps.

The first time my ds actually asked to sit on the potty and went to the potty on his own we washed his hands right afterwards and got soap in his eyes screamed like crazy and when I tried to give him his sticker he didn't even pay attention. We have had no real success since that event. [whatheadagainstthewall]

Since that moment we had laid off abit and ds son can request to have no diaper on if he wants too. SO he had no diaper and he had sat on the potty, so I'm thinking score... we're headed in the right direction. Well, the baby wakes up and needs attention I leave the room for a few minutes. When I leave ds is sitting on the toliet just like a little prince. I then suddenly hear uhoh uhoh. I run to find the he had indeed went potty on the potty. Now you would think that I would be happy, but I wasn't because he went ON the potty not in the potty. When I left the room he shut the lid and proceeded to pee on the lid. He then proceed the slam his hand the puddle laughing hysterically. His laughter soon turned into a temper tantrum when I didn't give him a sticker for successfully peeing on the potty. I didn't want to encourage anymore playing in pee puddles.

So I know there are other mishaps out there, please share away.

I laughed so hard at my son; he's been terrible to train because of bowel problems. I end up giving him something to help him go and it "slips up on him" sometimes. Well, we were outside and he comes up and says "Mama, me poop in my pants."

I was hot, tired and frustrated. I sighed and asked "Tyler! WHY did you do that again??"

Well, he misunderstood and thought I asked "HOW" did you do that? :?

He thought about it for a minute; held his little arms up to the side and tilted his head to the side and explained: "Mommy, me got a butt."

Needless to say, his complete innocense made me get over my frustration really fast!!

He's 5 now and still has an occasional accident, but very rare now. A lot of times he just doesn't want to stop playing to go do his job. So we're in the habit now of making him sit down to try; he usually will, even if he says he doesn't need to.

Well, since my daughter is almost eleven, it has been quite awhile since this almost mishap. But shortly after we started potty training with her, we went to the annual "Sports and Vacation" show they have locally. My husband and I like to look at the campers, trailers, rvs and dream about what would be nice to have some day. Anyway, as we were walking through one of them, I turned just in time to see my dd had lifted the lid on the potty in the bathroom and had started to drop her pants to go pee! Thankfully, I caught her in time and at that moment we were the only ones in there. I couldn't imagine trying to explain what would have happened to the sales person on duty. Also the look on her face when we stopped her was unforgettable. Such disbelief we were stopping her...potty + she had to go = complete sense (for her) to use that potty we were walking by.

At his first attempt on the little potty, ds peed in it. I was expecting to hear a tinkle but didn't so assumed he didn't go. About an hr later, he walked into the bathroom, and I heard giggles of pure glee (always a bad sign! ) I talked in to find both of his hands in the little potty splashing away at the inch of pee in the bottom. Now I know to check when he gets up.
