My daughter, Rhiana, is 3 years old and she is not potty trained. Back in August we spent one week work really hard on it and by the end of the week I felt like I was going insane. So we took a break. Now it can be hard to get her to just sit on the potty never mind anything else. She has sat on the potty but shortly after I put on pull ups she will pee. To be honest I am almost scared to potty train. I feel like a failure becuase she is sill in daipers. The questions going through my mind are: Will she ever catch on? Am I capable of training her? I stress out easily and already I am feeling like I am getting to the end of my rope. Does anyone have any tips that would help me get throught this stage?

Thanks
Crystal

I don't have a lot of advice on the potty training because my daughter is over 3 and still having poop accidents.

But I wanted to say: You are not a failure! Every child is different. If someone else's kid trained at 2 and never had accidents, I'm happy for them, but that wasn't my kid!

A few resources that may help are the books The Diaper Free Baby by Christine Gross Loh (has great advice for any stage) and maybe the book How To Potty Train In Just One Day (the title is that or similar.) I didn't go for the one day method with the eldest, but I may resort to that with the youngest. Both are early trainers (self propelled and I'm grateful for that), but the youngest is just like, hey, I know to go, I ask when I want, if not, well, oh well, no big deal sort of a thing.

The training will happen. If you get stressed, believe me, it makes it worse as your child will pick up on it and react to it. Mine always go the opposite of what I want when I'm like that.

I've also known others to go the naked route. Just stock up on carpet cleaner before hand.
