View Full Version : Bassinets?
Anybody use bassinets with their newborns? If so, what brand do you use/like? I'm looking at a fold-up that will be easy to use. I don't like using the play-pen bassinets for downstairs as they can't fit through some doorways, so you wind up having to take them down just to get them moved into a new room. Thoughts??
JoyLynn 12-02-2009, 05:20 PM Awww... I never had one. I have a cradle given to me by my grandfather. Just love it! [heartbeat] I think bassinets are so cute, though. [lovesmile]

savedbygrace 12-02-2009, 05:38 PM Check out the Graco travel lite crib. It is just like a pack n play but smaller! It fits through door ways.

PianoMama 12-02-2009, 08:57 PM pack 'n play - ours has wheels on it so it can be wheeled from room to room. I think one of the features on it is that it will fit through doorways. :-) if you want more info I can find a link for you...

Sure, thanks Kate! :)
melloyellochelle 12-03-2009, 12:05 AM Yep we have a bassinet and just loooove it! We got it at a consignment store. It's a Kolcraft Cuddle-n-Care. I guess it had a mobile with it (said on the label). But we buy it with it and didn't miss it. Anyway! It rocks and has wheels that pop down for easy moving. You can also make the wheels stable so it won't roll.
Here is one of the same style. Ours is all cream colors. Subtle and matches any room and is gender neutral! http://www.kolcraft.com/product.aspx?id=138&shopby=category
My only complaint about it is that she is outgrowing it already. :( ;)
Thanks gal! That sure is cute!
gamommyto4girls 12-03-2009, 11:32 AM How about a moses basket? I always wanted one of those and wish I'd gone for it last time.

Those are beautiful, but you don't always have a high surface to set it on... ya know? I like the bassinets and such because they are already up high... keeping baby out of the footpath of a dog, a cat, and five older siblings~ ::snort:: But I *do* think those are just beautiful~
buttercup_97140 12-05-2009, 02:57 PM We had this bassinett http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=8056730. I loved it because you can remove the part the baby sleeps in and carry it around. It can rock, roll, or be still. There is a light, sounds, and vibration. The bed part also lifts part way up so baby can be is a somewhat inclined position. We used it SOOOO much!
Hope you find what you are looking for!
Blessings,
Amber
krazee4jc 12-06-2009, 02:01 AM I can't even remember the brand I got for the kids [whatwacko] It was the typical white with the hood on top, from JCPennies I think?
Someone got rachel this cool one. It's a 3 in 1 from Babies R Us Graco

That looks so great!
I love reading about this stuff for future babies! [claploud]
irishmum2boys 12-07-2009, 09:56 PM We borrowed one both times, I loved them. Like you said you can roll them around and we lived in a small house at the time so it was perfect. My boys outgrew theirs fast so I was kind of glad that i could borrow one. Maybe somone at Church would have you could borrow?
How exciting to be preparing for your new baby!

I was thinking about going to a second hand place or buying one off Craigslist, just so we don't have to buy "new". Thanks for the tip, Jayne!
I was all set and ready to order the one you posted, Amber... then I went into WM today and had a look/feel at all the bassinets there. This one http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=2484135 is only slightly "cheaper" feeling and looking than the rest, and it's WAAAAY cheaper. It actually had a slimmer base, so it'll fit through doorways better. This is something that he'll be in when I can't wear him, so I'm not terrible worried about kids bumping it, knocking it over, and such. The more I thought about it, the more I realized he'll probably only be in it when I cook and workout, otherwise, I'll be wearing him. So... cheaper is better.
I looked on our local Craigslist and all the USED bassinets on there were going for $40 and up!!! That's crazy...... so, for five bucks more, I'll get this one. It's only 45 in store. I'm just glad that's settled. I have reached *THE* stage... where I want everything done, I have a bit more energy so I've been cleaning, sorting, and storing. It's nice to have the burst of energy, but I realize that this means things are getting *closer*.
Anyway. Yay! Bassinet--- CHECK!
krazee4jc 12-21-2009, 12:00 AM Jen, did you get one yet?
