View Full Version : Spotting in Pregnancy?
I had some spotting early on in pregnancy and then midway and both times it was unexplained... no placenta problems, no problems with the baby, no bleeding on the cervix.
I'm spotting again... very lightly... but spotting. I've had cramping for the past few weeks, so that's not "new", I don't feel I'm having pre-term labor. My midwife (the last time I went in for spotting halfway through pg) said that I could basically just be sensitive and spot at over-exertion and such, because there was no obvious cause for it.
Do you gals experience spotting in pregnancy like this??
4HisGlory 11-30-2009, 12:41 PM your still feeling fetal movements right? I would call the midwife anyways, just to be sure. Jmo
Jessy 11-30-2009, 12:43 PM I've never had any kind of spotting/bleeding during pregnancy. The only time I had bleeding was when I went into preterm labor. Have you been on your feet a lot lately? Doing any activity that is more rigorous than usual? I've heard that a lot of women do experience spotting that is harmless during pregnancy. Hope things settle down for you, it's hard to not worry, especially since you've had preterm labor before.
Well, I *am* on my feet a lot and lug around heavy-weight Eliya~ Ya know? So... that was why my midwife felt that it would probably just be an ongoing problem for me this pregnancy. And yeah, Wy is still moving a lot/normal. I guess my only concern *would be* placenta previa... and I do plan on calling the midwife once hub gets up and we talk about it. I hate to just spring "Hey you have to drive me to the midwife today" on him when he first wakes up... so.....
I'm not worried or anything, as I've had it twice before *this* pregnancy. I know other women who had full blown period like bleeding and after having been checked out by their doctor, everything was fine... that was just *their issue*. It can be frustrating having spotting in pregnancy with no apparant cause, but as long as everything is okay, I'm not worried. But I DO wonder how many women have spotting in pregnancy as just a normal thing for them, ya know?
Jessy 11-30-2009, 01:18 PM Well, I hope all is well :) Keep us updated, I will send up a little prayer for you!
I've not had any experience with this. Did you end up going in to see the midwife?
gamommyto4girls 11-30-2009, 06:11 PM Coming in a bit late on this thread, but yes I did have spotting with three of my pregnancies. My doc was most concerned about whether it was fresh or old blood (based on color) and whether or not it was accompanied by cramping.
Hope you are feeling better.

Yeah, ditto on the "color of the blood" thing here... this isn't bright red and abundant, so yet another reason to not be too alarmed, especially when my last ultrasound showed the placenta was high. I didn't go in today, I was giving it the rest of the day to stop, and it did... So, three days of spotting and it stops. Weird, but *JUST* like before. I wonder if the way I lift Eliya does it or something? I have been picking her up a lot lately, especially over the weekend while we had company and were running around. Hhhmm... Either way, if I see more tomorrow I'll be calling to get in ASAP.
I'm surprised to see only maybe one or two of you experienced bleeding while pregnant.
Katielady 11-30-2009, 08:00 PM I did with Matthew. Actually, every month around what would have been AF, I spotted for a couple of dasy. Light pink...not bad. That actually kept me from realizing I was pregnant with him for almost 3 months. I took a test early the first month but it was negative then a week later spotted some...so figured it was a light month...then the next month spotting...but the 3rd month I was having other weird symptoms (never had nausea with that pregnancy) and ended up going to doctor to confirm. My doctor said he'd never seen a woman spot like that throughout pregnancy. Matt was fine, no cramping with it.
Idk...I guess every body and every pregnancy is different - never had anything like it with Cash.
Praying all is well for Wyatt though! (((HUGS)))
Oh...tmi question...but have you and DH been extra vigorous or changed positions in the bedroom? Sometimes spotting can happen when the cervix is irritated from bd'ing...just a thought. Some positions tend to make me spot day after. [halo]
Tammyn4As 11-30-2009, 08:33 PM I had spotting with all but my last preg. and spent the whole preg. waiting for it to happen! lol I would always get put on bed rest for a few days or so and told to slow down a bit.

::snort:: Is it actually TMI?? :) I think we're all married women here so ::shrugs:: But, no, nothing like that... it was a super busy weekend, so there wasn't a lot of opportunity for that sort of thing. ::snort:: But that *was* the first thing I thought of when I started to see it~ I'm sure everything is fine~ Like you, I think it's just "one of those things".
mumof3boyz 12-01-2009, 12:13 AM My Dr told me with one of my other pregnancies that 1 in 3 woman have some amount of spotting... sounds high but possible. And like was mentioned, the color is a big deal - if it's old and brown, not to worry but if it's fresh and red I would definitely call the midwife! With Nick, I had one big gush of bright red blood at 11 weeks... totally freaked out and my Dr thought it was m/c too. But all turned out okay and they never figured out what caused it. Total fluke!
krazee4jc 12-01-2009, 12:58 AM Jen, with Isaiah my 3rd I spotted in my 4th & 5th month [whatwacko] it was light. I did notice it when I was more active, just slowed down & kept and eye on things :-D
As for Rbebkah, I spotted my 1st 4 months [whatwacko] everything ended up fine PTL [crossheld]
How you things going now?
leona 12-01-2009, 10:10 AM With my 1st i had slight spotting at the beginning ,but then at about 5 wks i had really bad cramping and fresh blood all evening, but PTL she was ok and to be honest i didn't have a clue i was pregnant at the time , i had a slight clue but then when this happened i thought my period was starting , i thank god now cos i would of really panicked had i known , with my 2nd i spotted i think befroe period was due but then nothing at all afterwards.
breezykc2 12-01-2009, 12:31 PM I had bleeding late in the second trimester with our second...and it was a miscarriage.....
I spotted with our last after a lot of walking one day around 30 weeks...subsided after a couple of days and chalked up to over-exertion. Freaked me out big time though.
