I agree that you *need* the antibiotics, but I had an open, honest talk with my midwife about GBS and the antibiotics and such... and she laid it out for me. A typical woman/baby do not trade off the GBS. Think of all the women who home birth, don't get tested, have babies when they (the mothers) have GBS and they are both healthy. :-\ That said, she still says that I should try to be there at the birth center to get the antibiotics, but just don't let that stress me (you) out at the end of pregnancy. She said really, they are happy with the antibiotics being in your system for just thirty minutes before babe is born; though they LIKE to see it in longer, but even just that helps. Soooo.... The chances of babe contracting it are SUPER slim, but better to prevent than treat, right? Anywho. That made *me* feel better and less stressed about it.
I'll sure be praying for you, Esther! I hope that you get some good labor going!! sit in the back of the car, go for a ride down a bumpy road, eat some spicy food, nipple stimulation helped me tremendously and I didn't notice that the contractions were really anything much stronger than my normal "labor" contractions... but it definitely helped bring them on. there are directions ALL over the web. I can't wait!!! I'm so excited for you!!
~Tara~ 11-16-2009, 12:09 PM Oh soooo close Es!
breezykc2 11-16-2009, 01:23 PM I have to STRONGLY reccomend the antibiotics for the GBS....my friend tested positive, opted to homebirth without the antibiotics and it almost killed the baby. They ended up in the hospital asap and in NICU for 10 days due to the GBS being passed to the baby and creating a major problem....all could have been avoided simply by taking a simple antibiotic, The antibiotics are safe for the baby and yourself and you have a choice of antibiotic to use if you don't have drug allergies.

Tammyn4As 11-16-2009, 04:51 PM How exciting Esther! My Abbey's 14th birthday is tomorrow and maybe Ellie will be here too! What a great day! Praying for you both!!!
Yeah, oops, I hope that came out right, breezy... I wasn't trying to say, "Don't get the antibiotics", far from it... but just that, she doesn't need to agonize over it. That was all. I was full of fear and anxiety over my GBS until my midwife said that... I still agreed that it was important to get to the hospital ASAP to get them, but it was less of a "doom and gloom" situation for me then. Before, I was literally afraid that even WITH the antibiotics that the babe would get it. So, ::shrugs::, I was just trying to pass along some of the peace I found in what my midwife said~ Anywho........
breezykc2 11-16-2009, 09:59 PM Gotcha now Jen! ;-)
PianoMama 11-17-2009, 01:00 AM praying for you, right now, Esther!!!!
savedbygrace 11-17-2009, 03:03 AM ok, still here. it's about midnight here. I took the castor oil after dinner, which wasn't good because you're suppose to take it on an empty stomach. anyhow 2 hours later and i'm having BM's but not many contractions 4 hours later, I took another 2 oz. of Castor oil and now I am waiting.
To be honest, it wasn't bad to swollow it but the afterward effects :barf: I kept eating candy so I wouldn't up chuck. Now i'm just waiting and praying that God will use the castor oil to get things moving. [praying]
Some have asked me why, i'm doing the CO. And the reason is 1. i'm tired of being pregnant 2. my sister and BIL came down to be there for the birth. This will be the only chance for my sister to be there in the delivery room because of the whole "no kids allowed" rule. I really want her there not just because she is my sister but also so she can video tape.
So that is my main reason. but God may have other plans.. :sigh:
LaDonna 11-17-2009, 10:27 AM Esther posted on facebook early this morning that her water broke at 5 am.....so baby is on her way....
