I'm a very petite woman (5'2", 130#) and I am absolutely STUNNED at how big my baby is now!

I just measured her a bit early for her 8 month birthday (in 3 days), and she measures 27" tall and weighs 20.5#. I plugged her stats into a percentiles calculator, and she is in the 95th percentile for height and the 84th for weight. I knew she was big (she can wear her 2 year old sister's diapers already), but MAN! She's enormous!

I told my DH that I blame his genes. He's 6'4", might have been taller except he had to have back surgery as a teenager. I praise God that the surgery stunted his growth a little, lol, because as much as I believe that he is the man God intended for me, it would've been a really funny looking wedding picture if he were any taller.

Oh well, maybe Tory will be able to live out my fantasy of being able to buy jeans that don't drag the ground when you walk someday.

It is funny how different each child is. I have 4 sons and each were in different percentiles as babies. But the third was 9 lbs 11 oz at birth and over 20 pounds by 5 months; and over 100% for height and weight till he was almost 9 months old. VERY THIN now, but still tall! :P

And the chubbiest as an infant and toddler( more so than even number 3 as he maintained it longer) is the skinniest kid now at 6 foot and 140! It sure is fun to watch them grow! Sounds like either way you have one healthy little baby! :) Congrats!

Your baby is precious and Leslie is so right that every baby develops at his or her own rate. My ds was always 95% in height and weight but dd was more like 90% in height and 30% in weight. Her ped. always has said that she is "tall and willowy."

God bless and enjoy every minute of your precious baby!

Our DD was always off the charts for height and about the 95-100% for weight. I look back at her pics and at amazed at how chubby she looked...didn't seem like it to us at the time...LOL! She's now 16 months (aww today actually!!) and she's pretty skinny looking....well not skin and bones, girl has some meat on her, but she's evening out a lot. I think she's pretty much kept the same weight, give or take a few pounds for the past 5 or 6 months. Once they get walking...man they sure change!

My DD was 9lbs 11oz at birth too.....we grow em big eh? LOL

Ok, I have 1 little correction, not that it matters much, lol. She's actually 28", not 27". Sorry for the typo!

Crissyanna, I just Googled "infant percentile calculator" and got quite a few sites. But, you might have to search within those results for a calculator that will give you the percentile for each month (some just do it for 3, 6, and 9 months, so do it for every month). Hopefully, that'll point you the way you need to go. I'm a nervous type mommy, so I like to check each month to make sure that she's being consistent.

I actually call Tory my little Chubba Wubba, lol. Her sister, who is the skinniest little thing, I used to call my Chunky Monkey. She dropped the Chunky part of the nickname once she started walking!
