View Full Version : Your splurge weakness

Ok, so what is your little fetish, thing you love to splurge on? I don't mean anything kinky, but for some people, like my sister, it is buying shoes. Other's it's purses or accessories. What is your weakness?

Mine is strange. It is toothbrushes. I love getting a new toothbrush. If I could, I would get a new one every week. Going into the toothbrush aisle, seeing all the different brands, colors and bristle formations just makes my day. And bringing a new one home to try is especially exciting. I'm so bad in that aisle, my husband won't let me go down it to get toothpaste, he goes! So, I guess that makes me strange. I have never known anyone else to share my love of toothbrushes before.

So, what is yours?

Fabric, ribbon, paint and craft supplies! I love to sew, and create stuff. I make purses, quilts, dolls, etc. I have to avoid the craft section of Walmart, I can't leave empty handed

Baby things. I love gadgets for my baby of any kind. I'm glad that I have my husband around to screen my purchases.

Before I got pregnant it was shoes and purses. While I was pregnant I was obsessed with Redskins(football) gear. Know its toys, books and clothes for my son.

Mine is clothes. I can not pass up a good deal! Usually when I buy them thought they're like 3 or 5 dollars, so I don't really know if that's a splurge, but I love having new clothes!

Amazon.ca books and cds... they often have cds under $8 and bestseller books for just a few bucks. We're media junkies. If I ever stay at the size I'd like to stay at I may switch to Winners for splurging-- designer clothes for cheap.

It used to be scrapbook items. Now that I'm pg, it's naturally turned into baby stuff. I'm afraid what I'll do if I go into the baby section of scrapbooking stuff now!

I don't really have anything at the moment. But I do like scrapbook supplies, clothes for my kids (I can't ever find the right ones for myself so it's fun to buy for them), shoes on occasion, in the last month - it was anything craft-related.

Oh gee...it's so rare I can 'splurge' on anything...
But I enjoy buying shoes :) They make me really happy LOL
And homeschool stuff always puts a smile on my face.
And car seats ..... ooooooooooooo weeeeeeeeee I LOVE buying a new carseat LOL
And the rush, the excitement of deciding which to get (uh, which cover that is, Britax is my preferred brand), and then hashing out the configurations in my truck aaaaaaah
Oh speaking of which..that just reminded me, hubby's home, which means my truck is home..which means the Marathon is there and I need to check ds' height in it, he may need straps moved up :D I shall resist the temptation to remove all seats and reconfigure. They're just now getting the hang of this arrangement.

Anywho...back to topic .. um...what was it again? Oh yes, splurges...
Books, love books..books for me, books for kids...sad part is, kids do a better job of reading them than I do. But that's ok, because most of my obsession is for books FOR them anywho.

Crissyanna I laughed so hard when I read yours. I too have never met anyone with a love like that for toothbrushes.

I hardly ever splurge bcuz I'm so grip-it  But if I ever spend money on myself it is usually on books. If you get me into a Christian book-shop I could be there all week. I love reading books about missionaries! Oh, and my other weakness I suppose would be scrapbooking supplies.

Tara, I too am a big fan of Britax!

oooo yea!! someone on a NON-carseat board knows what a Britax is LOL
Rock on!!
So, spill it Eva...what do you own?
I presently have 4 Britax in use. (I've also owned a Super Elite, but we switched vehicles and we decided it was too big, given the # of seats/children to fit..then shortly after that, we discovered it was under a recall for the adjuster strap, got the part to fix it, didn't like that 'fix' so sent it back and they gave me a BodyGuard in return (as they gave the option of a BodyGuard or Husky (the then new version of SE))
I'll soon be in the market for another as my first Britax purchase is soon to expire *sob* Our beloved Fisher Price Safe Embrace is due to expire this year as well. So that's 2 of our in use seats that must be replaced. Now it's just who outgrows theirs first to determine what seat is replaced with what Britax first ;)
Ok, rambling, yes, I have a problem. I am truly car seat obsessed :D
I really do need to add that to my signature. I had it at a previous board "car seat freak" hehe

Glad I could provide someone with a laugh....

Though, I've been good. I got one with my b-day money back in Nov. and haven't replaced it since. In fact, that was the second one I got since we got married nearly two years ago now (I know the ADA reccomends replacing them every three months. But if I had my way, every three days would be more like it.) Having no money really curtails such purchases.

Tara, I knew what Britax is. I can just imagine fitting all those into a vehicle must be like. Time for a 15 passenger van for you guys?

Tara, we started out with the Rock-a-tot Plus Si and we've just moved on to the Eclipse Si. Those were the only ones that would fit in our car bcuz at the moment we have a 2 door car. But I must say that I wish I were little enough to fit into the Eclipse Si bcuz that thing looks and feels comfy. :D

Yippee!! Britax lovers! LOL
Yes, fitting 5 seats in an Expedition is interesting. Especially since it doesn't have lap/shoulder belts in all rear seating positions. I have 2 in boosters, 3 in convertibles. I often reconfigure just to see what fits next to what, where, better :)
We still have one spot open though hehe
But, yeah, a 15 pass could be nice ;) I'd just miss my SUV so much. I'm putting that off for as long as possible. But then, with the van, I run into the limited lap/shoulder belt thing as well as head rests. Argh! I'll just have to hope for the best when it is time for my SUV to go.

Ok, back to your regularly scheduled topic *grins*

Oh, and I am a shoe girl...confession time
My DH counted when we married, 213 pair at the time and I've bought several pair since.
