So has anyone here had a vbac after multiple c/s? I had both boys via c/s (they are now 6 and 4) and I would love to try for a vbac but everyone tells me my chances of finding a cooperative dr. drops drastically if you've had more than one c/s. I will be delivering in Calgary, AB at Peter Lougheed Hosp. I'm just not a home birth type and I want to be near the equipment if anything goes wrong since we're 60+ minutes from the hospital. DS #1 was an emergency c/s for a crazy reason, they said he was in distress and needed to come out BUT since I was 8 cms and he was right down in the birth canal, I think his only "problem" was that he was being born!! Then with DS #2 I wanted to try for a vbac and my dr. told me the scary stories of uterine rupture, which I find out now is only a 0.5% chance. This time I really want to have my baby the natural way and be able to hold him/her right away. Anyone have any input on how Calgary deals with vba2c's??

actually I think there are more complications with multiple c sections. My sister had 2 c-sections and then her next 2 were vbacs. I don't know how they do it in Canada, but here the dr.'s are becoming more willing to do them.
Maybe if you do a lot of research and take that information to them, then maybe they'll side with you on it.?

There are many women who have had successful VBAC's after multiple CS's. As you said, the hardest thing is finding a cooperative doctor. Any chance that a midwife practice could take you and you could have an OB for backup?
Or maybe have a homebirth at a friend's house who lives right across from the hospital or something?
Best wishes!
Hmm....good question. I'll ask around and see if I can find anyone in the city with some info.. I know my sister had a great OB that delivered at Peter Lougheed. I"ll get back to youif I can find any info. :D
A VBA2C is totally doable. The risk isn't really any greater just bcuz you've had 2 c-sections. Check out I-CAN and they can hopefully point you in the right direction for getting support for your VBAC.
