They are all Mei Tai's, different brands though. First one is an Oliviabolivia, 2nd is a bamberoo (my fave brand), 3rd is an NHT (nurslings hemp tai), and 4th is a bamberoo.

I think i'm gonna sell my Korean one, it is too big for me and too small for dh. =[

At this stage in the game, we mostly babywear at home. Lydia loves being held, so it's much easier for me to wrap her and then I'm hands free to see to my other two. When she gets a bit older then we will do alot of out of house babywearing as well.

No, this is my Girasol. Girasols are great for newborns too! I only have 2 wraps, my Didy and my Girasol. Though I think I'm going to sell this Girasol to purchase a shorter one as I want to try out some different carries. Right now my wraps are the same length so I'd love to get a shorter one so that I can have some variety when it comes to the carries.

I loved those pics of a newborn asleep right on the back of your neck, so sweet, but I never did try. I still mostly wear him on the front. Just starting to try to get the hang of back carries. :-D Not very smooth at it. Have to keep practicing, but love having this wrap!

Yes I just tie it around the ends of the crib. He has never had a super long sleep in it. I do not leave it up for long because I am always wanting to wear it. :-D I do it for fun sometimes because I think it is cool and that it would be comfy to swing a bit. ha ha honestly he does not even notice. :) I think it is just for me! :-D

I was so tired of pulling it back and summer came and it was so hot to wear down. Always fun to have a change. [weathersun]

I just have to say that when I first heard about baby wearing, I thought, "Why?" I had a little carrier, but I still had to support the baby's head so it wasn't hands free. Then I had a backpack, but it killed my back. Or we had what we called pumpkin seats so you hauled the baby around in that.

Then I saw Ashlee just tie it on, tuck the baby in, and that was it. I'm assuming babies feel very secure and that it doesn't hamper your movement? I will have to remember all of this for future grandkids. [loveyou]

I would love to get into baby-wearing, but I am way too hot-blooded!! I just pour sweat in the heat. I do have a sling but it's not adjustable and Sawyer has already outgrown it. And I have a Snugli which I like but it's just too hot for summer!

Here is a picture of me wearing Dawson. This has been my first experience with baby wearing and I absolutely LOVE it. Dawson likes it to. I'm still learning and perfecting my wrapping skills. This is a cotton-gauze wrap that I made, unfortunately it was the only cotton guaze I could find at the time and it's pretty plain, it gets the job done though ;)

Y'all are making me curious about using a wrap with a newborn. I have almost exclusively used slings in the newborn period. Maybe if we have a #3 I'll have to try out a wrap.

Just looking through this thread a little and and trying to figure out what would be the best wrap/sling for me to use. Also wondering.... do you even use a stroller when you are out or do you always use your wrap/sling?

I saw the Moby on Amazon and it had lots of great customer reviews, but I am really petite and am wondering if there is something I need to consider regarding how the wraps/slings fit before deciding on one?

I think this depends on the baby. We bought a stroller when Payton was born and rarely used it. He didn't like riding in it ever. I bet we used it maybe 2 times. With Dawson he loves being wrapped and to me it's easier then pushing around a stroller anyways. We again are rarely using the stroller.

I think even being petite like you are you could comfortably use a wrap, you wrap it to fit you and baby, the way you put them on makes them 'custom fit' if that makes sense?!

Question for you, though.... does Payton ride in a stroller now and when did he start if so? Trying to figure out if there are any strollers we can use with both a baby and DS who is 3.5 but still really needs to be in a stroller sometimes when we are out. IDK... he'll be 4 in November and maybe by then he wouldn't still need that. I'm not even sure how long kids use strollers... ??

I personally have a double stroller (Graco Duoglider) and I'm so glad that we have it! I have used it TONS. It is fantastic for zoo trips, walks, and all other sorts of things. My eldest is almost 4 and still rides in it.

I think the stroller is an individual kid thing too. Payton still doesn't like any kind of stroller, he's 2-1/2, he loves his wagon though. When we went to the zoo a couple weeks ago Payton walked everywhere or was on dh's shoulders and I carried Dawson in my wrap. It worked for us. :) We use the wagon when we need/want to but other than that the stroller is just another thing to lug around for us.

ETA: I don't have personal experience with them but have seen people use the sit/stand combo strollers where baby can sit/recline in the front and the older child can stand/sit towards the back. If you google 'sit and stand stroller' you will find all sorts of them. :)

For a sling/wrap it really comes down to trying different ones out and determining which one you (and baby) like best. I have used a hotsling and mei tei and love both. I have tried others that I could get from walmart and hated them. So you may have to try a few before finding one that you really like.

I do cart a stroller around with my babies but that is used only for storage reasons. My kids never really rode around in one. I had a duoglider and a sit and stand and loved the duoglider over the sit and stand. Mostly because of safety concerns that I had with the sit and stand. Mostly with the kid in the back falling off. But since I wear my babies (and if I need a break my hubs has no issue putting the mei tei on and wearing them) I never needed the stroller for traditional purposes. In fact I didn't buy one this time around, instead I got a frame that accommodates the car seat. Wouldn't have even gotten it except that I found it at a garage sale for 10 bucks.

i agree with jessy that its personal preference. I haven't used a stroller since discovering babywearing nearly 3 wears ago. I just love having my babies close, and to me its easier and more practical to wear them. I do own a stroller for the rare occasion that MIL takes micah for a walk. But even at almost 3 years old, micah prefers to walk everywhere or go up in the mei tai.

A wrap will fit anyone, no need to worry about being petite as wrap will work for any shape or size. Moby is a good place to start. My very first sling was a moby and we loved it!

I love babywearing and in *most* situations I would choose a wrap over a stroller but there are times I like my stroller and I'm glad we have it. I like the wrap for grocery shopping, hiking, fishing, using around the house, ect. The one thing I do use my stroller for is going across the street to the park for example. Especially in this heat. I bring a blanket and if Ellie gets tired of sitting I lay a blanket in the shade for her to lye down on. Its just too hot having her in the wrap the whole time. I also like to get on the swings with the kids and play tag/chase ect. Today I was climbing a tree with lawson, lol. [halo] When I have Ellie on me it's harder to be active like that. I could put her in the wrap for the walk there but its literally across the street and then when we get there without the stroller I don't really have anywhere to put her down. Actually, I have used the wrap to lye her down on before and that worked but I had to have dh hold her while I put it back on and he's not usually with us when we go to the park.

I don't know exactly what it is as my sister in law made it. I actually prefer if to the Moby because the fabric seems to mold to my body easier/better than the jerseyknit. And it is definitely cooler to wear. I've used it a ton this summer! Here are a couple of new pics. :)

Have you heard that the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has recalled some baby slings? It looks like they're trying to shut down a whole Mom and Pop carrier business. The babywearing community is trying to fight the CPSC so they don't close down ALL babywearing Mom and Pop (small) companies.
