View Full Version : Feeling Urgency... anyone else?

I'm only just now about to finish out week 23 about to head into week 24 and I'm feeling this sense of urgency to have everything finished. At first I couldn't figure out *why* I felt this way and it kind of scared me, as in... I wondered if my mother's instinct, or the Holy Spirit, was warning me that Wyatt would come too early and I would need to have things *ready* for him so I wouldn't have to do it with a infant/preemie-whatever.

But then... the more I have thought about it the more the following thoughts came to my mind.

1) At 23 weeks (ish) I'm already having a hard time bending over, squatting, and lifting with comfort. 2) If I do wind up waiting until after he's born, I'm going to be trying to accomplish all these tasks with a *newborn* in tow. Not a pleasant idea. 3) If I do them NOW, I don't have to *THINK* about them. 4) Doing it sooner means that I can also take stock of what I have and acquire things as I need them, instead of finding out after he's here.

So... once I thought about it... I felt less worried, and more like, "Well... better now than later..." I was sitting up in his room today going through his clothes and found it difficult to keep bending over constantly. Ugh. *This* pregnancy has been different than the others, my ligaments have been the pain this time around. My round ligaments around my belly, under it and by my hips have been causing me a great deal of pain... sooo... for that reason too I have thought, "This feeling may only get worse, so I better do my bending and such *now* while I have less pain."

I was wondering though... when is your typical "the nursery is ready" period... under NORMAL circumstances where you are pretty comfortable and not having unusual pregnancy pains? I'm really curious~ :)

Nursery? What nursery, LOL? We co-sleep with baby, so we don't have a nursery. I did get an urgency towards the end though to buy baby stuff and get the house clean.

And at around 23 weeks, we got the Arm's Reach Co-sleeper. We love it!

Also in the 'what nursery' camp :p

But I think during that last month or two I get antsy about making sure I have car seats lined out. :p Next time around (and again I say, no, no announcement to make LOL) I'll get to buy a new infant seat! Woohoo! Yes yes I AM officially a car seat geek. *snort*

I think within the last 2-4 wk I have the infant seat installed. That may prove to be harder next time (whenever that is, see note above :p ) seeing that we don't have any empty spots in the truck. LMHO

I just love setting up the nursery, it's one of my favorite parts of a new baby :) With Payton we started immediately once we found out he was a boy (I think I was 16 weeks?!) and it took a couple months. With this one we'll probably put it off a bit longer because we know exactly what we want/don't want, etc. We'll also be finding out the gender so obviously we have to wait, as soon as we find out the fun will begin. :)

I hear you on the pain this time around, my hips are insanely sore lately :(

I'm in the what nursery camp as well, but that's only because we don't have enough room. BUT that doesn't mean I don't have the urge to get one done. I'm seriously in the nesting mode right now and I have taken on the task of re-doing the church nursery! I am really praying that by January we'll start on the garage/editon that we want to add on to our house. But since I can't do the nursery I have been doing the laundry washing and organizing all of Ellie's things.

Oh man! I was AAALLLLL about the world's cutest nurseries!! [claploud] Had a boy nursery and a girl nursery in mind at conception, began looking through catalogues immediately, and started decorating as soon as I knew what we were having (or as soon as the i.v.'s went away, which was always around weeks 24-27). Our babies slept in our room, too, in the beginning, but I loved, loved, loved, loved having a beautiful nursery. And, yeah, babies napped in their own rooms and started getting used to their own space from day one home from the hospital. Made the transition much easier for them, I'm sure. And it was so much fun hanging their cuuuuute little clothes up and putting their sweet little gifts away. *swooooooooooon* Ooooh, and the rocking chair near the window for nighttime rocking and feedings by moonlight.... Swooning again. [lovesmile]

Yeah, if you decide to get it, check around. You may be able to find one at a good used rate. We were VERY blessed. Someone gave me theirs free for shipping.

I think it would be exciting to set up a nursery properly! I have never really done it either because we lived in a 2 bedroom house when we had both boys and the spare bedroom also happened to be dh's office too :)
They did sleep in there aftre they outgrew their bassinet in our room but I never really decorated it like you would thinka nursery would be decorated so I always thought it would be cool to do that! Anyway if you do set one up show us your pics :) Have fun doing it!

Ditto on the "what nursery". We co-sleep or the baby sleeps in the swing or packn'play (if/when we have those) or on me in the wrap. I do love looking at all the little clothes and getting that all ready in advance, though. Mmmm baby clothes and just thinking about how cute they will look and that yummy baby smell [heart]

Yeah, Cham, this time around I'll be doing "naps in the wrap", I really wanted to wear him a lot and try to keep my milk supply up and AF at bay! :) That's awesome that you do that!

Thanks gals for all the responses! I love reading how you all do things~

:) I didn't finish Grace's room until my mom was here the week and a half before she was born! We had some stuff done but she did most of it actually. And that's so our personalities but it was also because I was restricted to limited activity at 33 weeks by the doc and we had just moved at 32 weeks... sooo, yeah!
Next time around, I'm hoping to get the nesting bug earlier and get things done earlier! :D

Rachel will have the baby in her room, so she'll be living in the nursery [rotfl] She actually hasn't set anything up yet, Grandma's supposed to come help :-D I'm so not into that stuff [whatwacko]
