OK ladies... what should I take with me? Has anyone been to see a fertility specialist before? The last one I went to, dh wasn't exactly on board, so I went to see him alone. He never asked me for temp charts or anything like that, but I did get all the necessary blood work done as well as a HSG - all clear and normal!
This time, dh has had his tests done already, so I'm not sure what to expect... anyone willing to share?

I haven't been to one but something I just thought of that would be helpful is records from past visits if you've seen any other doctors regarding fertility issues. Could be somewhat helpful maybe.
I'll be praying [praying]

If you have charts, I'd bring them. I was asked to bring three months worth way back when we had trouble conceiving #3.

I have been through the fertility specialist gauntlet! PM me for any Q's...here's a rundown! Expect a total blood workup, including hormone levels....a sonogram/ultra to check for endrometriosis, proper structure, any cycsts, problems, egg maturity, etc.....expect them to order a sperm count for your hubby. If you've had one for him, bring the results. Bring any charts, bring your clomid history--how long, doses, did you ovulate, etc. (I'm guessing you've done clomid since they typically make you try this before seeing an endrocronologist/fertility specialist--given and monitored by an OB)
All depends on the outcomes of your tests...many avenues include Inuteran insemination all the way to invitro....
Many times if you're diagnosed with PCOS, you will be given glucophage/metphormin (this is a diabetes drug, but with PCOS, it can regulate your cycles many times since you don't process insulin correctly, resulting in infertility issues/hormone problems)
They will suggest always eating lean proteins with any carbs to help the insulin work better...even if you are not insulin resistant (I wasn't!)...
GET and READ thoroughly Taking Charge of Your Fertility....it describes it all and gives great insight so you'll now what they're talking about when you go.
**if for some reason you haven't tried clomid yet, check my responses to Rachels post asking about clomid usage she posted last week, I gave a lot of details about the drug to her there**

the HCG dye test is done? Awesome, that would have checked blockage....TAKE those xrays with you!!! That is a painful test (more so if you ARE blocked...I have one tube permanently blocked)......
So get the xrays so you don't have to redo that nasty dye test!
I just wanted to tell you that I am watching and waiting with excited anticipation!! :)

Well... maybe I'll try to get some old charts together with actual temps (now I just chart CM and AF arrival, no temps) to take with me. Dh has had the analysis done, so those results will hopefully be passed on for us. As for me, all my blood work was normal, I don't have PCOS, but also have not tried Clomid yet... I actually think that's what the specialist is going to suggest, but I'm not sure dh is willing for me to try that. Not only because of the side effects, but also because it feels too artificial for him.
We've discussed IUI and he's good with that, but he doesn't want to go to the IVF level. At least not yet. Actually, I don't think we'll ever get to that point. We'll just adopt! lol
I guess I'll contact my previous specialist and ask him to forward all my results to the new guy/gal.
Thanks ladies!
